Question to content strategy folks here:
Do you focus on highlighting specific channels in your LI profile (for which you have experience of) or do you keep channels open but also mention your niche?

SEO content folks: What subscriptions do you invest in?
• I have Superpath Pro (REPRESENT) for social/networking/community
• A couple of AI tools like Wordtune and Gemini
• My website hosting provider
What else do you subscribe to personally (not from the client's side)? Clearscope? Ahrefs? 👀

Hi everyone, I find myself spending way too much time prepping images for articles and I'd like to change that.
Mine often involves using multiple tools since the brand's product is a creative product. I do have a simple workflow and templates, but it doesn't change the time invested for most pieces and it's generally not an activity I enjoy.
How do you manage image prep for clients' articles without investing hours into the process? Please let me know 🥺

What’s everyone’s favorite influencer lookup tool? Why that one over the others? TIA 🫶

Does anybody know if you can embed a Loom video directly into a Google Doc?

Oh, and I have a different website for each, so I can keep the marketing and inbound stuff separate.

Sure, so for my freelance writing (70% of my income), I'm a single person. I only do the writing. But for marketing consulting for the homeschool market, I hire out for certain tasks such as WP development, technical SEO, graphic design, etc - with content strategy and outreach behind the core offering for my "agency" work. I don't do a lot of the agency type work because I only like to work with companies I'm really aligned with. Does that make sense?

@Linsey Knerl Well, tiny. Got 3 people full-time and me. Can I ask, what do you mean by you act as a smallish agency for select projects??

How big is your agency? I ask because I act as a smallish agency for select projects (team of 3-5), but I work directly with the clients, so I pitch myself and my skillset while using an agency name on billing, contracts, etc. I'm also a sole proprietor if that makes a difference.

Hi folks! I was wondering, aside from referrals and word of mouth, how else can content agencies find and clients? When I was a solo freelancer, most of my clients are from cold emailing.
Do content agencies also cold email? If so, how do you format that email? Do you share right off the bat that you’re an agency? Thanks so much!

Do you mean as a freelancer? Or for a client?
Asking because I would like to build something for myself but I'd be eager to hear what others are doing

from @Hsing Tseng on increasing/setting your freelance rates is great!

How are you all handling strategy for B2B lead gen/nurture campaigns these days?

Hello everyone, I want to create a content calendar for a company (I've never done this before). How do you approach finding topics to write about/give it to writers to write on? I am really stuck with finding ideas. The topics I find are too competitive for a new company to rank. Any tips and suggestions are welcome!

Happy New Year, folks!!
First freelance Q of the year: I have a client who wants to upgrade old posts by interviewing people who can add more insight into already published posts and I’ll weave some of the interview quotes into the article.
How much is the typical rate for this kind job? Basically, I’ll look for the right people to interview, contact them, do the interview (which can be quick and via email, can also be via call) then weave the interview/blurbs into the article.
We’re looking at 15 articles that I’ll update. I just don’t know how much to charge…
Thanks so much!

I found that transitioning to full-time was honestly just doing more of what I was doing as a part-timer. Keeping a full bucket of different kinds of clients, so that when big changes happen (like the recent Google penalties), I could stand to lose one or two and not be devastated. I also found that leads were more open to working with me when they knew this was my only job and not something I was trying to get done in the evenings after another full-time career. Communicate your timelines, stress that you are available for XYZ work (and the timeline for getting that work done.) You'll want to hit up editors you've worked with in the past if you're on good terms and gently announce that you are going all in and can help them with jobs big or small. One of the biggest mistakes I see from those going full-time is that they eschew small gigs. I'd rather have 10 small jobs than 2 big ones where a client leaving means I can't pay my property taxes. Good luck!

Im looking to transition to full-time freelance content work. Any idea how to go about it? Finding long term clients I mean

Any Russian or Georgian freelancers? I need a tool recommendation. Send me a DM. thanks!

dangggg. that's wild.

In the UK, it could put the freelancer or company at risk of IR35 penalties (a 7th circle of hell). Again, it's a nasty grey area, whatever the country.

Ohh, that actually makes sense. They're registered in the US btw.

Well, I don't know which nationality this client is in, but I do know that under e.g. European law, you have to be very clear not to treat freelancers as team members, or you start to owe them employee contracts and benefits.

Asking makes it alright, yeah @Eric Doty (Superpath)? Someone else said companies ask this sort of thing and it's normal. It's to show off a team...
What do you mean @Rosie?
