It's not cold in Mexico, @Eric Doty (Superpath). They can have the W. lol

Hey ATXers, let's set something up for a couple of weeks from now. I'm thinking Radio EAST for a first meetup? They've got food trucks, lots of free parking, and of course, excellent coffee.

Use this Doodle to vote on the times that work for you: https://doodle.com/meeting/organize/id/aKzvpVGe

We should do an Austin meetup! We can grab coffee somewhere and maybe co-work?

I'm also in Austin. And I have two weenie dogs that aren't very high off the ground. One loves it. One does not. lol

Hey y'all, hope you're not frozen today. Where is everybody located?

Can we get a Texas channel? I'm in Austin, but that's only a few hours from Dallas or Houston (the other TX biggies) so I don't care what the channel is called. lol

I agree with Valentine. I think positioning yourself as an SEO content writer who loves/has experience working in a few different niches is the way to go, especially if you like the variety. I never niched to a specific industry in my almost 15 years as a copywriter, and it's never held me back.

He's mixed with Doberman (not min-pin ) and chihuahua. He's really got a sparkling personality. 🙃

@Eric Doty (Superpath) - I do not understand why anyone would bring a non weenie or weenie adjacent dog to something like this. They are known to be mean to dogs that are bigger than them and some only like other weenie dogs.

One of mine promptly took a mouthful of fur from a doodle with no sense of personal space as soon as we entered the facility.

Went to a weinerfest in Austin a couple weeks ago. They tried to break the record for the biggest weenie dog meetup in the U.S. Not sure if they did or not but I think the number was around 700.

Anyways, got these tongues-out glamour shots of my boys Ralphie and Franz (who were hot af in the central Texas heat).

Hey y'all, if you know anyone who needs a new website, my very talented friend Lydia and I have donated a 5-page WordPress site with custom design and copywriting to our friends at The Failure Ball for their silent auction. It includes 5 pages of custom design and copy as well as a custom blog feed for blog posts and/or podcast. (Value is $10k, but the bidding starts at $3k.)

The Failure Ball is a non-profit gala that celebrates failure in the name of suicide prevention. (Recipient is non-profit, To Write Love on Her Arms.)

It's a great deal (that $10k is not an inflated number), and it supports a great cause. Please pass along if you know anyone who needs a new website! There is also a lot of other cool stuff you can bid including business services and physical goods.

Took Franz on a hike this week. Big adventure for a little guy: A story in 4 photos.

Any PPC experts in the house?? I'm looking for quotes about your favorite PPC keyword research tools. Which ones do you love and why? The article will link back to your site (if not an agency or independent consultant) or your LinkedIn page. Feel free to DM me!

#freelance-gigs - September 04, 2023 at 09:36 PM

@Theresa H - Of course not!

#freelance-gigs - September 03, 2023 at 01:18 PM

@Brandon Giella - are you a Brett Williams/Designjoy stan?

#freelance-gigs - September 03, 2023 at 01:16 PM

@Theresa H - I think it's easier to sell. I do find that people ask the question, "What if I have TOO MUCH content?" But most people in my target market (small businesses & solopreneurs) don't actually have too much for this to suffice. They might have 100 things in the queue, but I'm able to tackle the timely stuff first and then just work through the back log. They don't need more than that.

@Shannon Clark - I haven't reached my max yet, but I suppose I will cap the number of clients I take on. I used to have an agency, and it's not for me. I don't want to hire or outsource to junior copywriters, so I'm gonna do what I can myself and be mindful of my limits. I will say that not all my clients use the retainer all the time. Sometimes they just want me to update older stuff, which takes less time. Or things are held back by approvals, getting info from them, etc. Sometimes they just pay to have access to me when they need it.

In terms of time management, I allot an hour each work day (M-Th) for each client. Turnaround time is typically 2-3 days, depending on what it is. (If I'm 100% on my game, I can get a lot done in an hour, but if I'm not, it might take longer.) That would mean I'd probably cap it at 6 clients, but at $5k/client, I'm not mad at it. (Plus I still do projects and I have a template shop!)

#freelance-gigs - September 01, 2023 at 07:45 PM

I'm doing mine a little differently - as an unlimited retainer (one request at a time) with a pause or cancel any time clause. (I've found that people are far more open to this in our current economy.)

Here's the link: https://sarahjaneburt.com/copywriting-retainers

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm really liking this format myself. Previously, my retainers were for a set amount of copy, but I feel like the new option provides more flexibility for my clients who often have random copy needs.

@Eric Doty (Superpath) He's a sweet angel baby. My red boy is 6 and just starting to get a frosty snoot.

#pets - June 22, 2023 at 03:46 PM

@Melissa, The CPA Who Writes I love him! My black and tan is mixed with chihuahua and doberman of all things.

#pets - June 22, 2023 at 01:33 PM

Yesterday was National Dachshund Day, so I thought I'd share a glamour shot of my boys Franz (black and tan) and Ralphie (red). They are stubborn AF, but also love very hard. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Did you know that a well-trained dachshund only behaves commands 50% of the time?

I'd love to! I just unleashed a slew of copywriting templates for people who hate copywriting templates.
