all white papers are research-heavy and it also depends on the word count... for a 5,000w paper I would have quoted about $3,500US and that's what my clients typically pay me (I also do all the prep work)... I'd say discount a little but that guarantees a constant flow of work

This has become a hot topic 🥵... but why would anyone share gigs they've worked hard to get themselves with a complete stranger? Only if I know my fellow writers' capabilities would I consider sharing my workload if I were swamped, but to a total stranger who has cold pitched me and has not built a relationship with me? You're just going to get blocked without a reply. Cold pitching to a fellow freelancer is lazy. I've worked extremely hard for the past two decades to build my brand and my client base and the last thing I'm going to do is dole out work to someone who I do not know and potentially is not a native English speaker. It's my reputation at stake most of all!

Just ignore the request. Honestly I would hate to pass along work to another freelancer (whom I didn't know) which ended up being subpar and potentially losing a client out of it. Plus, finding new work is tough work so I am not one to just "share" the load. Tell them to look harder and find their own work!

Totally agree! It should have been in a contract but as this was a trial for work I don't normally do (conduct lengthy zoom interviews as opposed to email interviews) I didn't provide a contract. I'll just continue to chase! Cheers both.
