This pays somewhere south of a tenth the minimum listing number.

My ex-colleague Derek does a lot of book editing/doctoring: https://www.linkedin.com/in/d-j-mcphee-2924a5198

I clicked through right before deletion. Based on how long they expect the pieces to take, their rate is about 40% of the minimum wage in Ontario. That's not just low but criminal.

Hey everyone, I'm looking for examples of questionnaire-style CTAs that have demonstrably improved your conversion rate/lead flow. If you have any examples please reply/DM me with a live link to your questionnaire and any supporting information you can provide (would love screenshots if available).

Why is it America only when the article boasts about having a remote team across 22 countries.

#general - August 04, 2023 at 07:08 PM

I like Asana and Notion if you are set on PM software, but interconnected Google Sheets work great and provide a really clear history.

#freelance-gigs - August 04, 2023 at 07:06 PM

You can do quite a bit with 2000/quarter, That'll get you help writing solid press releases and access to Yahoo Finance, Business Insider, US/CA/World news wires, etc. That's a full release per quarter, and any more is probably not going to have the newsworthiness needed to spread. Feel free to DM if your friend would like to get into contact with the freelancer I use.

Hey everyone!
@Madhav Bedi and I are putting together a huge list of global retail statistics.
If you work in the retail market (especially brick and mortar but ecommerce is ok) and are interested in adding statistics with a backlink to the source, please DM me and then add it to our document.

We are looking for the following types of statistics:

World retail statistics
U.S. retail statistics
Canada retail statistics
European retail statistics
U.K. retail statistics
Retail sales statistics
Retail shrinkage statistics
Retail crime statistics
Organized retail crime (ORC) statistics
Retail shrinkage statistics
Retail employment statistics
Retail foot traffic statistics
Ecommerce vs. brick-and-mortar retail statistics

(To keep the document clean, I'm moving accepted statistics to the main document as they are vetted)
Thank you!

I'm surprised #job-listings isn't remaining free as well. Isn't it meant to just be a feed of your website job listings? Wouldn't people placing job adds effectively get less value from that service?

Maybe create a CV that lists clients, how long you've worked with them, total output, their industry, etc. with a link to your first, last, and best three articles in as accurate a timeline as possible? It would then be a big more like a portfolio still but shows the brand names you've work with. If your education and other work experience is pertinent, those could be sections following the freelance work.

#general - May 31, 2023 at 03:37 PM

Is it a question of how to include freelance work on your resume or a resume that will help you get freelance work?
I've honestly never had a client want to look at a resume, so I'd encourage you to just figure out your portfolio and sales pitch instead.

#general - May 31, 2023 at 03:12 PM

My friend paid 200 USD for just a resume when he finished his MBA. I'm contemplating an MBA now, and I would pay that much for a resume if the expectations were doubling my salary.

#content-collab - May 29, 2023 at 03:29 PM

Does anyone here work for a point of sale (POS) company?
If so, I'd love to have you reach out (DM or reply) and discuss how we can work together.

#content-podcasting - May 19, 2023 at 12:58 PM

We built our case for ROI independent of the podcast audience. Basically, we get expert opinion and commentary on topics related to our industry, which we can repurpose on the blog and through social media. That's the real benefit, and if the podcast itself takes off then that's gravy.

I'd say being too narrowed in your focus on how to exploit the podcast and where you expect to see value is a big one.

#freelance-gigs - May 19, 2023 at 12:55 PM

I'm with @Mile Zivkovic. I only list out specific freelance roles if they meet some strategic value: I did a substantial amount of work, over a fairly long period, and the role gave me demonstrative experience in an area of digital marketing.

I also usually limit my ongoing freelance experience to make it less visibly conflicting with my day job. However, pretty much every dev and a good number of others at this company list "founder" roles as their side gig anyways, so it's probably not actually an issue. I'm pretty open within my company that I do freelance as well.

#freelance-gigs - April 28, 2023 at 12:54 PM

I don't think contracts are always necessary (as you technically have a contract to fall back on, which is all the correspondence and agreed upon terms). However, as a procurer, I'd always want to make sure that copyright is being handled in the company's favour. As a freelancer, I explain that if I don't sign over the rights to my work explicitly (Work Made for Hire in America), then there is nothing stopping me in the future from requesting all of my work be taken down. That usually convinces people to sign contracts.

#freelance-gigs - April 13, 2023 at 05:45 PM

I have clients who ask for prewritten LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. posts when writing articles and do it within the scope of the article. So if I'm billing on a 1500 word quota, I borrow 100 of those words for the social media posts and instead deliver 1400 words in the article.
It probably does take me a bit longer overall, but I can usually also garner a slightly higher per word rate so it all comes out in the wash.

Solink.com

#content-collab - April 03, 2023 at 06:36 PM

I have a piece that might fit.

#content-collab - March 22, 2023 at 09:06 PM

@Leigh Kellner This might be a good collab for you.

#content-podcasting - March 21, 2023 at 07:27 PM

Rev (paid version) has been good for us. The errors have become predictable and solvable with search+replace.

#local-toronto - March 17, 2023 at 03:26 PM

@Tatiana Morand me too please!

#content-collab - March 15, 2023 at 04:02 PM

What kind of collaborations?

#content-collab - March 14, 2023 at 02:28 PM

Does anyone work for a B2B SaaS company that targets restaurants, retailers, churches, schools, cannabis, really anything with a physical location?

Point of sale (POS) software, scheduling, access control, etc. would all be especially applicable.

If so, please reach out via DM to discuss collaborating with me!

#content-collab - March 10, 2023 at 03:05 PM

Yes

#content-collab - March 10, 2023 at 02:40 PM

What website? I could probably get you some decent quotes. Our VP of Sales LOVES talking about objection handling

#general - February 27, 2023 at 08:02 PM

White papers should be above $1/word if only because of the long approval and planning window.
I definitely agree with @Naman Bansal above that not many people are paying that for standard SEO-focused blog articles.
I'd say that roughly $500 is in line with my expectations as a freelancer and someone who utilizes freelancers. If the writer is talented and offers certain add-ons, you can probably get a bit more per word, so I could see the midpoint as closer to the $1000 side than the $150 side (which is extremely low and you'll get what you paid for).

#freelance-gigs - February 15, 2023 at 12:32 PM

I definitely do that as well, or I should say I invoice monthly based on returned drafts. That's when the majority of work has been completed and it is fair to invoice.

#freelance-gigs - February 13, 2023 at 05:57 PM

I aim to generate and send monthly invoices by the fifth of the following month payable by the 15th.
Not all companies are able to meet that cadence, and in my experience flexibility and forgiveness about overdue invoices are necessary parts of business. Ultimately, a random freelancer in the content marketing department is not a high priority to a business and you sort of need to respect that to maintain long relationships.

#content-collab - February 10, 2023 at 03:29 PM

@D.J. McPhee could break down all the editor roles for you.

#general - February 09, 2023 at 04:07 PM

This is definitely something I experienced when I moved from mostly editing, which I find provides consistent freelance work, to writing, where your income week to week can be hugely varying!

#general - February 09, 2023 at 04:07 PM

@Marijana Kay I think I have good enough people skills to do well during a 30 minute intro, but I'm by no means a salesperson.
Do you have any recommendations for turning these "chats" into more formal, higher converting "demos"?

#content-collab - February 06, 2023 at 06:26 PM

Feel free to DM me on that.

#content-podcasting - February 01, 2023 at 07:09 PM

Thanks @Jimmy Daly (Superpath), @Ryan Tabb and everyone else. I didn't realize there were all these extra hoops for Apple (and I guess Spotify too, which I did and then immediately forgot about). I think our podcast should get release any time now!

#content-podcasting - January 30, 2023 at 02:23 PM

How long does it usually take for a first episode to show up on the Apple Podcast app? We were everywhere else in under 6 hours but Apple hasn't listed us after 5 days

#content-podcasting - January 30, 2023 at 02:15 PM

DM is fine

#content-podcasting - January 30, 2023 at 01:54 PM

I should have clarified. Not an editor tool but an editor for hire.

#freelance-gigs - January 25, 2023 at 03:28 PM

When I book a demo for a potential software vendor, I always ask "do you use your product in-house?"

#freelance-gigs - January 25, 2023 at 03:26 PM

Very cool @Sean Collins

#freelance-gigs - January 25, 2023 at 03:12 PM

Giving people a live indication of their application quality is amazing!
Is that something Toggl did or is it a SaaS that can be implemented elsewhere?

#content-podcasting - January 24, 2023 at 05:48 PM

Does anyone have a good English transcript editor? The ones coming out of Gong are not good enough.

#content-collab - January 24, 2023 at 02:43 PM

I could probably get you on a DR 32 site. It was DR 7 this time last year with a lot of content published and now working on backlinks. It'll be there soonish.

#content-collab - January 23, 2023 at 02:00 PM

Do you work for a point of sale (POS) company?

I'm looking for content marketers inside of POS companies for cross-promotional opportunities, including shared content creation.

Please DM if you work for a POS—any industry is ok.

#content-collab - January 20, 2023 at 06:22 PM

Do you have backlink-only packages? I've done demos with a couple of those partners, and they tried to sell on large packages that included content, reporting, technical SEO (auditing and recommending only), etc. which we explicitly did not need.
