The primary negative impact of a broken link on a page to the page itself is that it provides a bad user experience, which might increase bounce rate.
The other negative impact is that both users and web crawlers can’t visit the pages the broken links were supposed to point to. This prevents users from spending more time on site. This prevents crawlers from indexing more of your site and understanding what each page is about.

Would recommend doing this from within your company first through employee advocacy. People at your company care about the same topics and are connected to relevant buyers. Getting them to engage and share content is more valuable than a stranger. If you’re curious on how to socialize this at a company, I can share a guide.

My personal opinion is to focus on creating really useful content that clearly answers search intent first, adds something to the conversation that others are missing, and building supporting content around that.
DR will come naturally when you have pages worth linking to.
If you feel like you’ve done all that, then it’s perhaps worth a look into white hate link building from trusted relevant sites.

What do you think SEO looks like next year? Specifically, there are two trends:
1. Google Bard/Bing intercepting SERPs more aggressively with AI-generated answers
2. Marginal cost of content creation has gone to zero. You can get pretty good rehashes of what’s already out there with AI (what content mills have been doing for years, but better). The only alpha from an SEO perspective seems like it will be from generating unique insights (which probably lasts months/days before being used to train new models that can rehash the same info)
