You should talk to Jay Clouse from creatorscience.com.

He has done courses for LinkedIn Learning, where I believe LinkedIn paid for the production costs to make sure it was high quality.

He then leveraged that experience into creating a bunch of course for his own brand, Creator Science, and they’ve all been really high quality.

I’ve found him to be pretty accessible through his website or social media, but if you need an introduction I can ask him if he’s interested and send an email if he says yes.

Yeah...I've been on the client side trying to pay international team members. I think there are two types of Bill.com accounts...one with all the features and one where you just tell Bill.com your bank details so you can receive money from clients.

That second option doesn't require a U.S. address or bank account, but they don't make it easy to understand the difference.

I wouldn’t overthink it. You probably have a good enough camera in your pocket or sitting on your desk right now. Just prop it up against something and hit record.

It’s the same as any other medium. If your writing is excellent, people will read it as a book, a newsletter, a blog post, or a Twitter thread.

If your message is clear and engaging, 90% of the time nobody cares about the quality of your audio, video, or background. Those are all things that are easily addressed through equipment…it’s much harder to train communication skills.

The only caveat I’d put on this is if you’re applying to a media heavy roll like a podcast host or certain marketing roles. If you’re going to regularly produce content for the business, production quality matters for sure.

I think it’s becoming more common with the increase in remote/hybrid workforces.

Since there aren’t any face-to-face meetings, people want to see what a “Zoom experience” might be like and also just make sure you are who you say you are.

I used video as an option for a remote marketing position I hired for, but I also included audio and text and asked them to use the format that they felt most comfortable with. Almost 100% of applicants chose to use video, interestingly enough.

I also kicked things off with a video prompt of my own. It was about 5 minutes long and asked three pretty basic questions that should be easy enough for folks to answer in 5-10 minutes with minimal prep.

I also made it clear that they weren’t expected to get dressed up or find a fancy location. I was wearing a hoodie and a hat and said it was representative of our workplace culture, so they could feel free to match that level of comfort if they like.

Ultimately, I think it’s a reasonable request as long as they keep things manageable in terms of time, effort, and resources required of applicants.

Hey Kai,

Big fan of your work! I've bought your products, directly referred half a dozen sales of your roadmapping kits, and traded a few emails with you throughout the years.

(Also loved, and very much miss, listening to you and Nick chop it up on Make Money Online.)

Our positioning for Castaway is all around repurposing for podcasts, but we've worked on webinars, conference talks, private workshops, video courses, and even case study interviews.

We could definitely handle this for you, and I'm happy to put in the extra attention to make sure we're meeting your quality standards.

Would love to have an opportunity to work with you after following your journey all these years!

I think @Dennis Hammer has been doing this at scale for one of his clients, with really solid results.

Thanks for the tag, @Hannah Wiginton!

Yep! New website is under construction, but repurposing podcasts/webinars/conference talks into social media marketing assets is all we do. 🙂

Thanks @Amanda Johnson and @Shadrack! I’ll keep a look out for those names. 🙂

Hey everyone!

Really excited to announce that we’re hiring for a full-time Marketing Coordinator role to work with me and the rest of our team over at The Good.

This is a great opportunity for someone relatively early in their marketing career who enjoys lots of diversity in their projects and isn’t afraid to jump in and learn/practice new skills.

Here are a few of important notes:

  1. This position is remote-friendly, but we can only hire inside of the U.S. right now.
  2. I don’t care about degrees. I care about mindset, work ethic, and ability to do the job.
  3. The qualifications are less of a “checklist” and more of a “wish list.” When in doubt, apply!
  4. For my sanity, all applications must go through the link in the job listing.
  5. If you refer someone, please let me know and I’ll make sure to take a closer look. Would appreciate any amplification or referrals you might have. 🙏

That’s actually a significantly higher average than I would have expected. I would have guessed maybe $65k-75k if you asked.

Feelers sent! I'll keep you posted. 😀

#content-collab - December 09, 2020 at 09:33 PM

Or if you want an in-house content marketer at an Ecommerce brand I can probably hook that up.

#content-collab - December 09, 2020 at 09:32 PM

Ohh thanks for the tag, Hannah! 🙏

@fio - I work at www.thegood.com and we use ahrefs for our CRO agency. We don't do any content marketing work outside of our own blog, but I know some Ecom-specific freelance writers if that's more reflective of what you are looking for.
