It's your website. Of course you want to create bias in your favor.

#hire-me - January 24, 2025 at 12:12 PM

Hey folks,

Does anyone know any cybersecurity or data privacy companies looking for content writers, managers, or strategists and can point me in the right direction?

I'm a non-US-based content professional working in this niche for well over 8 years.

If you know anyone, DM me, thank you.

Vlad

#freelance-talk - January 15, 2025 at 09:19 PM

Other than copying the video link to Google Docs, no.

#general - January 14, 2025 at 10:05 AM

I hate these reviews that forbid you to say what the product is. What's the point?

Also, I forgot, I would probably focus on one sub-niche like B&B hotel managers or something like that.

#general - January 14, 2025 at 10:01 AM

If the deadline is due tomorrow, my suggestion is to focus on the target audience, its main pain point and how Eviivo solves it. With 300 words you don't really have the room to go deep. A simple "What is Eviivo, Who is it for and What problem it solve" works best.

#general - January 12, 2025 at 03:44 PM

Yeah, I'm confused by this as well. That's 72,000 words/article. Sounds very ineffective. That value proposition is just bad in my opinion.

#general - January 06, 2025 at 10:10 AM

I actually had a client request a live test a few years ago. And it was in-house. Of course, it had zero to do with what the company was actually doing so no idea what they could see from it.

I don't like writing tests in general. If you're gonna do it, at least make it relevant for your industry and audience. That way we both know if I'd be a fit or not. Throwing in random tests does nothing.

#general - January 03, 2025 at 11:03 AM

The number one question is is it worthwhile? If it's a small amount probably not. Keep in mind that agencies might take their percentage or an upfront fee.

#general - December 26, 2024 at 06:24 AM

In this day and age (see what I did there?) AI tools are woefully unreliable. I think your best bet would be to look for overused phrases like that one (you can always find it at the beginning of an AI-written text) and words like utilize, enhance, boost, etc.

#general - December 23, 2024 at 08:22 PM

I think ShareX has a GIF mode

#general - December 19, 2024 at 11:33 AM

"In Qwoted and help a B2B both requires you to mention publication"

They do? Interesting.

Thanks for the answer, I'll email the source when the article goes live I guess.

#general - December 19, 2024 at 11:17 AM

Hey, not trying to hijack @Nishrath's question, but I have another one regarding HaB2BW. When using quotes in your articles, do you perhaps email the source telling them you use their quote and where it will be published? Is this a good practice or not necessary?

#general - December 13, 2024 at 09:45 PM

I'm still waiting for voice search to become a thing

#general - December 09, 2024 at 05:38 PM

Not a problem. Btw, what's your brand?

#general - December 09, 2024 at 02:18 PM

Sorry, I confused things mentioning decision-making in the context of MOFU. I should've said they help the reader consider their options.

Most comparison and alternative articles are MOFU, not BOFU. For instance, "Top 5 Alternatives for X" and "A v B Which is Better?" are MOFU since the reader is still considering their options.

They can be BOFU. For instance, "Why People are Switching from X to [Your brand]." since they push the reader more in toward making the decision.

"Best CRM Tools" I would place in TOFU most of the time. Again, unless you go into comparing these tools and their features as then it goes into MOFU category.

#general - December 09, 2024 at 01:56 PM

I would say both comparisons (A. v. B / A v B C) and alternative articles go in the MOFU content category since they help the reader make a decision. I think you can run them side-by-side.

#general - December 09, 2024 at 01:36 PM

Also, A vs B could work even with your brand if you can find a good use case where your brand is better than competitors.

#general - December 09, 2024 at 01:33 PM

@Avinash Patil Yes, it could. A vs B has a better traffic potential since you're probably comparing better-known brands that people will search for more and adding your brand could help nudge people in your direction. I'd say you need to be very tactical about it and highlight your USPs for it to work. Again, you have to be objecive.

#general - December 09, 2024 at 11:53 AM

A vs B vs C (C= your brand) will give you more brand awareness, and you can highlight your USPs. Just be careful you're not too biased.

A vs. B lacks brand exposure, is more neutral (trust building), and can have higher traffic potential but without direct brand exposure.

So, opinion 1 is better for building brand awareness, and option B is better for traffic.

Are people still insisting on SurferSEO? I had some clients who were heavily into SurferSEO, and the only thing they cared about was getting that 75+ green mark. I guess it gave them a dopamine boost or something?

To me, it's a keyword-stuffing tool that is completely unnecessary.

#freelance-talk - November 15, 2024 at 01:15 PM

Because it's an AI detector and AI detectors are dumb as F

#freelance-talk - August 05, 2024 at 07:13 AM

The nature of our work is unpredictable as it is so I don't see the point in refund policies. I can't really guarantee "hey, you're going to get this much traffic"

#freelance-gigs - July 05, 2024 at 02:05 PM

@Joanna Kaminska Sent you a DM. Looking forward to hearing from you.

#general - May 19, 2024 at 08:10 AM

You'll need to know how to manage your team and collaborate with other teams (design, sales), SEO, content analysis, competitor analysis, content planning, and distribution (creating content calendars). Learning CMS is also crucial. I'm probably forgetting some, but there you go.

#general - May 16, 2024 at 04:43 AM

You probably didn't miss anything too good @Christina Szeman I get a lot of such requests for WhatsApp and especially Telegram and I always ignore them.

#general - May 06, 2024 at 06:10 AM

If you're going to use anything that belongs to the client (i.e. branding, images, stats, etc.), definitely run it with them first before publishing the case study.

#content-collab - April 04, 2024 at 06:01 AM

Hey @Debbie Oyewole I've been freelancing since 2012, I'd be happy to help with any insights. DM me if you have any questions. I'll try to answer them as best I can.

#freelance-gigs - March 28, 2024 at 06:25 AM

@Gohar Akram Seeing as there's no other way to contact I think DMing is justified.

#general - March 21, 2024 at 08:01 PM

Like for interviews?

#freelance-gigs - March 20, 2024 at 04:18 PM

Thanks, @Dusten. That's gold advice right there.

#freelance-gigs - March 19, 2024 at 01:23 PM

I had success on the platform and landed some good clients there back in the day (around 2017-2021), but I think it was more active then. Today it just looks like most posts are sitting there for months.

#freelance-talk - March 16, 2024 at 09:20 AM

For a "business" business, you definitely need a business email for credibility. Using a free Gmail or Outlook is just lazy. For a freelancer, I don't think it makes much difference. As long as it looks somewhat professional. But if you already have a domain, that won't hurt.

#freelance-talk - March 11, 2024 at 10:00 PM

I'm just not sure about the cost of doing that with no guarantee. Email is just much cheaper and faster to deliver. Whether someone would care for a gift enough to consider hiring you I don't know.

#freelance-talk - March 11, 2024 at 08:53 PM

@Theresa H I think people just started figuring out the use(s) for AI in content marketing. Hint: it's not for writing.

#freelance-talk - March 11, 2024 at 08:50 PM

If you're looking for ideas, you can just Google "B2B SaaS content marketing" and go with something that fits your audience and service best. For example, "B2B SaaS Content Strategy Guide".

#freelance-talk - March 11, 2024 at 08:42 PM

Do you mean via post mail? It could work for a local business, but I never tried. I don't know how it is where you live, but the only things I get via post mail are bills and flyers for pizzerias and stuff, so I'm usually not too keen on seeing something in my mailbox.

#freelance-talk - March 05, 2024 at 07:30 PM

Try both Grammarly and Hemmingway. For my taste, Hemmingway oversimplifies writing, which is not always a good idea. I use Grammarly Premium, which gives you suggestions for grammar, clarity, engagement, delivery, what style you want to use, and more.

#general - February 20, 2024 at 11:19 AM

Hi everyone,

First of all, great to be a part of this community.

Is it okay if I make a suggestion? I think it would be a good idea to have a channel where people could get feedback on their portfolios, CVs, and cover letters to help each other with presentation.

What do you think?

#hire-me - February 20, 2024 at 11:14 AM

#freelance-talk - February 20, 2024 at 07:36 AM

Thanks @Huda. Yes, I have something similar when it comes to a Google doc with examples that I can show to clients, though I don't have it separate by niches like you. I'm going to steal that idea ;)

#freelance-talk - February 20, 2024 at 06:30 AM

Hi all.

I need your opinion on something. I specialize in a certain niche (data privacy & cybersecurity), but I also write about other things. Do you think it's a good idea to create separate portfolios, one just for data privacy & cybersecurity and the other for everything else, or is that overkill?

#intros - February 19, 2024 at 06:07 PM

Hi Everyone!

I'm Vlad. I'm a content writer specializing in data privacy and cybersecurity topics, but I write about other things as well, like tech in general, SaaS, software development etc, etc.
