No company info? Seems an odd decision. I'd be interested if I knew who I was working for.

Also, the jobs link needs to go here, I think:
. Currently, it's defaulting to the page with job listing tiers for prospective clients.#freelance-gigs - August 25, 2024 at 03:12 PM
Sorry, unless I'm mistaken, this seems more like an advert than a freelance job post. Additionally, the word rate might be wrong. As much as I'd like to get paid $10,000 for a 1,000-word article (half the payment upfront? 😉) that's a typo, surely?

@Eric Doty (Superpath) Hello, there's no rate indicated on this freelance gig. I'd be grateful if we could enforce this policy, please. I don't feel it's right to waste people's time applying to find it's not even the basic rate. The fact they don't want to supply the info from the outset is a big ol' red flag, even if they are a known brand.

Also, Wise. I use it for US client payments to the UK. Costs 4.14 USD per transaction and convert.

Interesting. My insurance is through Hiscox as well, but I'm in the UK, and obtaining professional indemnity and public liability is expensive for US work. I would love to see my premium reduced, but Hiscox is one of the very few insurers here that will touch it.

Don't burst my bubble, @Jimmy Daly (Superpath).😁

Is there pricing info on the website, Jimmy? I couldn't see it unless you have to reapply? Thanks.

I haven't had to talk money for a long time. After leaving a media job, I worked freelance for a few US tech agencies. One offered me a full-time role and after two years I was hit by the tech downturn and let go along with six other people. Someone who I'd worked with at an old client recommended me, so I found myself scrambling to come up with some numbers for a strategy and rolling content gig. I'd been applying for permanent roles in the UK and hadn't thought that much about freelance work. Basically, I'm not very good at the money talk and I've not had much practice.

It's ridiculous. I found myself discounting my rates in my head as they were talking. They hadn't even asked me!

Hello, My name is Chris and I suck at sticking to my rates.
