We literally offer the very thing you have described! https://payhip.com/b/FEl8x

#freelance-talk - January 20, 2024 at 07:30 PM

This has helped me get paid, on at least one verified occasion - when I know other freelancers were completely hung out to dry, by a client who thought we wouldn’t talk to each other. Only those of us who had business entities saw anything

#freelance-gigs - December 07, 2023 at 11:12 AM

everyone is welcome at https://remoteworkeurope.eu - our country-specific communities are on Facebook, links on the homepage (and we’re looking for more admins); newsletter goes out Fridays with a range of remote jobs and opps

#freelance-gigs - December 07, 2023 at 10:11 AM

do you have a link to the info Maeva, something I can share?

#freelance-gigs - December 07, 2023 at 09:26 AM

Glad to share this in the Remote Work Europe community, but we need the pay info as well

#freelance-talk - November 23, 2023 at 03:03 PM

In a similar position. Frustrating, isn’t it!

#promo - October 05, 2023 at 10:03 AM

(European location not prerequisite, we will be posting daily at lunchtime in European time so this also works well for East coast late afternoon, etc)

#promo - October 05, 2023 at 10:02 AM

We’ve just launched a LinkedIn cohort challenge in Remote Work Europe, and would love you to join us - if you want to increase engagement, boost your network, improve your profile and more 😎 https://payhip.com/b/MBJxf

“These portfolio pieces are examples of my publicly bylined work. I also ghostwrite brand content, so I urge you to review my LinkedIn testimonials for an overview of the brands and projects I have been involved with”

(it does make me laugh when someone makes you sign a watertight NDA, then leaves you a LinkedIn testimonial saying how brilliant your work was on the xxxx whitepaper…!)

#freelance-gigs - September 14, 2023 at 04:13 PM

“tech space” is not a niche, it’s a broad trench - can you be more specific?

#job-listings - September 14, 2023 at 02:11 PM

will share in Remote Work Europe, thanks

#freelance-gigs - August 25, 2023 at 03:07 PM

Become a European resident! (My epic answer. I assume this question is directed at the US members)

#job-listings - August 22, 2023 at 04:54 PM

(Thank you, I do a newsletter with European remote vacancies, and it’s a perennial problem - US hirers are the worst for burying the lede…)

#job-listings - August 22, 2023 at 12:14 PM

this is another one of those which says ‘Anywhere’ on Superpath but on the website says its US only

#freelance-gigs - August 17, 2023 at 05:50 PM

What is the niche/subject area? In which industry are the content creators?

#freelance-gigs - August 11, 2023 at 10:07 AM

Sometimes going up a level in niche terms works. I struggled to unite writing about future of work, future of money, impact of tech on society… and now often define my niche simply as futurism, under the brand ‘storyteller from the future’. Maybe yours could be something around lifestyle and environment

#freelance-gigs - August 11, 2023 at 10:05 AM

I am glad you shared this openly, the wisdom of the crowd can help you out more than any one to one conversation with this.

Finding, defining, and explaining your unique niche, is an ongoing challenge for all of us.

I think the most important priority for you right now is to make sure your public profiles are aligned with the full time work you are seeking, because that’s your most relevant goal right now.

But in terms of figuring out your sweet spot as a freelancer, this piece I wrote a few weeks ago might be helpful: https://blog.xolo.io/how-to-find-your-unique-selling-point-as-a-freelancer

Good luck!

#freelance-gigs - August 11, 2023 at 09:57 AM

I think most complete strangers in this community would rather consider their responses to a question and whether they are the best person to help you, in the open.

#freelance-gigs - August 10, 2023 at 05:45 PM

There is a threshold beyond which really good writing cannot add additional value, in any non-subjective, i.e. measurable, way. Not everyone can write this well, but enough people can. Past that threshold, you might be 10 x ‘better’, but it won’t add value for the client.

What will add value, and potentially make you unique, is subject matter expertise. So, while you should never stop striving to be a better writer, you need to focus on (and commercialise) the unique knowledge and background you bring to what you write about.

Read @Dominic Kent ‘s book!

Wow, GDPR compliant opted in contacts? Hope so, if I’m on there

#general - July 30, 2023 at 09:43 AM

Can anyone recommend a great resource for learning and getting started with #midjourney?

#freelance-gigs - July 27, 2023 at 09:07 AM

I wish these posts would share a pay range. “Always competitive pay” - depends on many things!

#freelance-gigs - June 22, 2023 at 12:01 PM

DM sent, sounds very interesting!

#freelance-gigs - May 05, 2023 at 10:53 PM

Digital ‘slowmad’ for 14 years now

#freelance-gigs - April 26, 2023 at 06:20 PM

This sounds very interesting, but can you share the rate range you are considering?

#freelance-gigs - April 17, 2023 at 08:36 AM

I will always make time for necessary synchronous meetings with clients anywhere in the world - in Europe you can as easily collaborate with Asia as with the Americas, and that’s a positive advantage. However if you are hiring a writer, there should be a very low need meetings in real time anyway.

#freelance-gigs - April 15, 2023 at 01:31 PM

It’s frustrating, because I am an EU resident and operate as a limited company out of Estonia - there are zero tax implications or compliance risks for anyone in the US or elsewhere to hire me, as they will get a proper B2B invoice from my company. However, ‘US-based only’ is frequently used as a lazy synonym for ‘we can’t be bothered to figure out the technicalities or spell out the options’, which is indirect discrimination.

#freelance-gigs - April 10, 2023 at 03:11 PM

I hope this guy got everything he paid for and deserves

#freelance-gigs - March 15, 2023 at 09:32 AM

I have no moral objection to ghostwriting thought leadership content based on interviews - not everyone has the skills to articulate their vision clearly, especially in these niches, which I know well. There might also be language issues. However, this combination of most niche subject + someone else’s byline would be my highest paid work - this rate is a joke, and surely below the minimum rate for this community?

#freelance-gigs - March 10, 2023 at 04:40 PM

I have nothing to add to the excellent advice already offered, only my total sympathy and solidarity. The situation is crappy enough so don’t add self-blame as well, we’ve all been there and done it, sometimes more than once - because every situation is different. You are the victim of being ripped off here, not at fault, and you could be facing the same behaviour whatever contract you held 🙁

#freelance-gigs - March 08, 2023 at 06:28 PM

My OH works for Smarterqueue, which is nice for content redistribution. If you do check it out, please be sure to ask Support lots of really difficult questions 😎

#freelance-gigs - March 03, 2023 at 03:56 PM

HI Alicia, can you provide any further info on subject area(s), also whether you are seeking bylined authority content or ghostwriting?

#freelance-gigs - February 15, 2023 at 05:39 PM

I’m such a fangirl they interviewed me about it https://authory.com/blog/it-takes-this-freelance-writer-just-a-few-minutes-to-make-her-every-client-pitch-100-personalized

#general - February 04, 2023 at 08:18 PM

Pricing Q: Interviewed someone for an article/profile, and she (scientist) has asked me to write a press release for her new book. I did explain it’s not my specialism, but she was thrilled with the way I understood her work, etc.
I can revise how to write a press release (and there are enough templates in my inbox )but not a clue how to price it. This is a semi-academic, pop-sci title. Be very grateful for any pricing advice for creating a generic release, plus any great educational resources to help me brush up on the techniques.
Just for writing the release incidentally - I shall make it very clear I cannot offer any PR or placement services

#freelance-gigs - January 19, 2023 at 02:13 PM

Why not simply a bank transfer I wonder?
I have been paid by Canadian businesses via bank transfer plenty of times

#freelance-gigs - January 11, 2023 at 05:01 PM

Another vote for Authory, who actually profiled me as a case study last year - weird to be ‘on the other side’ of the interview 😎 https://authory.com/blog/it-takes-this-freelance-writer-just-a-few-minutes-to-make-her-every-client-pitch-100-personalized/

#content-collab - November 23, 2022 at 04:58 PM

Does anybody have a good template set of terms for collaboration with non-professional-writer guest post contributors I could look at? Something about how to write a great post that is not an advert, how we reserve the write to edit the living daylight out of anything, who owns the rights, etc etc. I feel sure such a thing must exist and I am googling the wrong terms - thanks in advance

#freelance-gigs - October 26, 2022 at 07:34 AM

Yep for me it's a red flag. I can make sure my writing is fantastic, but I have no control over their product/service, pmf, etc. And in web3 it's even worse, when they want to pay you in their (presently totally worthless) native token

#freelance-gigs - October 14, 2022 at 02:11 PM

I have been invited to gigs like this in the past, and worked out that the hourly to me is generally terrible, factoring in reading time - and I read fast and prolifically! So much then depends on the nature of the book and if I would care to read it on my own time, otherwise it quickly becomes non-viable. Any heads up on the rates and content in question?

#freelance-gigs - October 05, 2022 at 08:31 AM

Its definitely part of the test criteria from tax office in the UK (where self employment is advantageous to the individual, and absolves hirers of a lot of cost and responsbility) In itself it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker as it’s part of a range of factors which are a red flag to the tax office https://www.litrg.org.uk/tax-guides/self-employment/am-i-employed-self-employed-both-or-neither

#freelance-gigs - October 03, 2022 at 11:01 AM

Oh I am sure that’d be fine - so long as its an area you can secure remotely, and they can access it with the right creds on whatever device they’re using. Lots of different solutions but your IT person will best advise, depending on the eternal UX vs security tradeoff

#freelance-gigs - October 02, 2022 at 04:03 PM

I many locations providing own equipment might compromise their self employed status anyway. Give them a virtual desktop instead, better for everyone

#content-collab - September 20, 2022 at 07:16 AM

Developing a mindset of investing in my professional development, learning and reading every day to deepen subject matter expertise

#general - September 08, 2022 at 11:24 AM

I would also strongly advise contracting for a maximum number of revisions in the first place, and refusing to respond to non-actionable feedback/thinking out loud. I mean, you do have to respond to it, but respond by asking for clarity and specifics rather than doing the edit

Hi Nikhil, my Spanish is not professional writing competency and maybe it never will be, but I do get asked for it a lot (as well as bilingual/translation work) as I live in Spain… Clearly a market in demand!

#intros - August 30, 2022 at 01:51 PM

Interesting! just submitted your form, and I like your style
