Same here, I'm also working on my own site because that could produce better results in the long term.

I agree, and even many of the clients who pay 5 cents a word will pay that rate for a sample article. Even if they're paying low rates they can at least afford to do that.

I checked out that website and saw several how-to guides on how to find great writers for .05 per word, including writers who cover B2B SaaS topics. So clients who see those articles might come in with those expectations.

If you're paying $500 for 1000 words you should be able to find a writer who's worked on marketing campaigns for major insurance companies. Referrals are a good way to find those writers although you could also find them in here.

It's interesting to hear about this from the hiring manager's perspective. I've noticed that job ads for writers often get hundreds of applicants. As for writing tests, a lot of them ask basic grammar and spelling questions. If you need to screen beyond that you could offer a paid trial article, that seems to be what other managers are doing these days.

Impressive, those are expert rates.

I've seen a lot of marketers in my network who use videos. Sometimes they even reshare the videos from other networks. There was even a debate over whether the watermark from the other network helps you or not, I think it does because it shows viewers that you have a larger audience than your LinkedIn network.

It sounds like they're trying to save money by using a Madlibs-style approach. That doesn't work as well these days because Google wants unique content.

Many of the writing platforms, like Contently and nDash, can also be used as free portfolio hosting sites.

I've seen a few writers use custom graphics, including infographics, to get wider reach. If a bigger publication wants to add the graphic to their article they often link back.

Yeah, that indicates a potential scam.

Yeah, even if you can't enforce the contract it would still prevent misunderstandings.

Well done!

I'd say that it helps with preventing misunderstandings and scope creep.

It's probably better to use those tools as writing assistants instead of trying to create entire articles with them. They can create articles that look correct but if you actually read them, they often get facts wrong. I did see an AI company that said it had a way around that problem though.

I've seen a lot of writers recommending

They might lose a lot of readers but the website probably has good backlinks. Major newspapers don't always go back and remove the backlinks in their old articles either.
