Howdy all. I'm looking for recommendations for software/tools that capture your screen while you click through steps. Then I want to trim the video and export it as a GIF.

This is for an in-house knowledge base that we host on Intercom. TIA!

edit: Paid tools are OK, no need for freemium or trials.

I'm a few months into an in-house role at a Nasdaq-listed org, in a space with lots of legal implications (cannabis). Almost everything we do has to go through legal review. It's a huge drag because sometimes it takes 2 weeks to get content reviewed, and it really sucks the momentum out of an editorial process.

(I came from a small SEO agency where we moved very fast, clickin' and clackin' on deadlines and follow-through.)

But if I need something prioritized/elevated, I have to demonstrate there's a business case for moving it forward faster. And that usually entails getting someone above my paygrade to lean on legal (eg someone from sales, engineering, product, depends). That's part of the politicking. And I have to pick and choose when to pull that lever, because if everything is urgent, then nothing is urgent.

Reframe your thinking: Legal not as a blocker, but a partner. Talk to your legal partners. Ask them how to best engage with them, make the working relationship smooth and productive. Where to inject grease in the gears, etc. They're a necessary stakeholder, so bake them into the process, not as a bolt-on or hurdle.

Take notes on their feedback so you know what landmines to avoid in future copy—that's really helped us.

And yeah, set realistic deadlines (for legal), and for yourself. And if someone is wondering why you can't get anything published, then tell that stakeholder to help you escalate the issue.

This has relieved me of much frustration. To focus on what I can control, not what I can't.

Just here to say @Emma Siemasko is a stand up writer, editor, and content marketer. I'm sure the Costa Rica retreat would be valuable and awesome if you have the means to go.

feeling very content after reading this

Is there anyone here who works at Clickup? I have a very strong referral for the Dir. Content Marketing role

@Marcia Adair

yeah, drop a zero from that range (6-10) and still we're talking a heavy workload

Reintroducing myself with a new position:

Nik here in NorCal, a former journalist-turned-SEO and content manager. Been in Superpath since the beginning.

I just joined weedmaps.com as a growth content manager on a new organic growth team after 5 years of agencyside SEO. 👋 Anyone else in cannabis tech, hit me up!

@Rachel Yes! This is it, thank you!!

#freelance-gigs - March 20, 2024 at 04:35 PM

thanks all, I found someone for this project but will keep y’all in mind

#general - March 19, 2024 at 09:47 PM

It wasn’t this, but this is super close and very helpful. Gracias!

#general - March 19, 2024 at 09:33 PM

Someone posted a while ago a wish-list org chart for building a content marketing team, I can’t remember who. I wanna say it was @Tracey Wallace or @Jess Cook? Anyone remember this? It was in a Gsheet, IIRC. Thanks in advance for anyone who resurfaces it.

the podcast with @Lashay Lewis was 🔥 - easily my top 3 fav episodes, definitely listen to it — especially if you struggle with BOFU content (like I do, nature of being in an agency and jamming on multiple industries)

#freelance-gigs - March 06, 2024 at 10:36 PM

I am looking for a one-time-project graphic design contractor (possibly more). I manage content production at Local SEO Guide, an SEO agency in California.

It involves creating (and editing existing graphics we have from Midjourney) for a b2b SaaS. I have 10 images total to accompany 10 blog posts.

If you’re interested, could you tell me what your rates are? And what other information you need from me? OK to DM. Thanks!

#general - March 06, 2024 at 09:42 PM

Nope

#job-listings - February 28, 2024 at 08:05 PM

I interviewed Monday with CP and heard back Tuesday (no), appreciated quick turnaround. Pretty standard screening HR interview that didn’t get deep into the weeds of the role. About 30 mins. Friendly, no-BS, smart interview. Reports to Head of Marketing.

Good luck to anyone in the running, although I had a sense it’s going to be a lot of work with low guardrails regarding work/life balance. YMMV.

Sorry to hear, there are no life/work hacks for grief.

Totally understand the timing. A few years ago I was in the middle of a job interviewing process when an immediate family member died suddenly, and obviously had to drop everything. Explained to interviewers I had to pause (I eventually got hired and pushed out my start date, which gave me something to look forward to).

Grief is a rollercoaster. When you’re at a calm point, having something to focus on is a nice distraction/reprieve. That’s when you can go deep and be strategic about finding work, networking, etc.

One weird byproduct of grief is that it has a way of stripping away bullshit from your thinking. Mental acuity. That can help you focus on what you want, who you want to work with, the type of work you wanna do. Maybe? When you feel those moments of clarity, burst and dig into work stuff.

But right now, the most important things are yourself, your partner and family.

very nice posting @Eric Doty (Superpath)

Also @Mark now at Freshpaint writes about building content strategies without SEO as the main driver. eg https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urnactivity:7130926663890001920/

Not to be the GPT guy…but I would take @Amber Erickson findings in her first comment and paste it into GPT4, and ask it to uncover gaps or not-so-obvious ideas to include…inspired by @Ryan Law in this handy X thread. (It’s not do-all step, but it sometimes gives you a running start in coming up with gaps.)

#general - December 05, 2023 at 11:53 PM

We build Looker studio reports in-house for each client, and add URLs as we publish each blog (pulling GSC and data from other tools). I believe our agency will do this as a white label service, DM if interested.

#general - November 15, 2023 at 06:35 PM

Can’t remember if it’s something you call out specifically, but I’d like to see some sort of segmenting related to how much respondents increased their salaries by asking for a raise/promotion vs. changing jobs.

#general - October 13, 2023 at 10:11 PM

We all see the EditorNinja sponsored posts here, yeah? ^^

Well, we hired @John Doherty and his team this past two weeks for a massive six-figure editing project (we’re talking hundreds of hybrid human/AI pages of copy), far beyond what our internal editing team could handle, with a tight turnaround (1 week).

What a smooth experience, high praise from here. Will be hiring John and EditorNinja again. Communication, submitting the order, connecting directly with his editors…all of it’s been seamless, and his editors get the work, meaning they picked up on the nuances of the project without having to ask a million questions (I mean, questions are fine, but this just meant they weren’t waiting on me to reply—they made great judgment calls right out of the gate).

So yeah, if your editing workload is starting to boil over, hit up EditorNinja. An equally worthy sponsor and service.

No one asked me to write this =D

Remind me: Does anyone know if Superpath has a referral program for getting new users to sign up for memberships?

#freelance-gigs - September 08, 2023 at 11:12 PM

Found a couple writers for now. Thanks for the replies, all!

#freelance-gigs - September 08, 2023 at 09:39 PM

Seeking a freelance writer or two who can write about topics related to product management and UX/UI. This is for a SaaS that makes software for PMs. Mostly TOF/MOF content. DM me for more info.

@Mitangi Parekh same. With one of our B2B SaaS clients (one that you wrote for 🤌 ), we’ve been trying for years to get their marketing team to talk to sales with the goal of getting Salesforce connected to GA so we could map as closely as possible which blog posts led to demos/conversions. Easier said than done, I guess. There’s some forensic lead mapping software but haven’t explored it (will dig it up, someone mentioned it in a long ago post here).

#CJE3XC0H3-announcements - August 02, 2023 at 05:27 PM

The only thing I have to add is that @Mitangi Parekh is an incredible content marketer, sharp writer, and splendid human, so you should talk to her f’sure

Yes! Superpath is hiring freelance B2B SaaS writers: https://jobs.superpath.co/job/960828-b2b-saas-freelance-writers

Everyone still prefers a human writer, but AI is going to differentiate the writers who know how to use it tactically vs. those who don’t.
> what topics could I write to create writing samples for a portfolio
Respectfully, this is an incredibly broad question that will get you broad answers.

Pick 3-5 topic areas you know a lot about, or topics you’re interested in that you could become an expert writer for with some dedication and research. Chime in on convos around those topics. Ask questions. That’s how you become an SME. And that’s how you get B2B SaaS writing gigs.
