I have a client who severely negotiated the price with me before the first piece. Now, two pieces later, they want an extra 1000 words for that price. I said no and lost them, but we're talking about my expertise, my time, and my dedication to their brand. Respect yourselves fellow writers. You and your top clients know your worth.

Good for you. I've had that happen to me, too. The "word creep" is sly and subtle

@Patrick Icasas wow! long time no talk, how are things?

It's been pretty eventful! Seasons come and go, empires rise and fall, but writers are always needed 😉

True, I got squeezed today pretty hard. Nearly down to the minimum rate I can charge. And they wanted me to go lower.

Alexandra Cote July 18, 2024 at 10:07 AM

@Brandon super sad, they wanted work worth $1/word done at 0.17/word 😅. These people don't realize we're not actually starving and people can make money today in sooo many different ways. I'm a marketer but write because I like and I def have clients at lower rates but I love working with them
