#freelance-talk
Thread

hi all! Currently negotiating a project for writing social media (LI) posts for a potential client. I've done work like this plenty of times, but only as a full-time employee. How would you normally price this as a freelancer? Volume? PPW? Hours?

Regardless of how you price it
Time & Materials or Value-Based
The client or prospect will eventually do the math and say, for X number of posts and I'm paying Y... that equals $Z/post
I say that because to ensure alignment, I would 100% put in the deliverables how many posts per month and what type of posts (photo, video, long thought leadership, short quips, etc.)
this is a timeless video on value-based pricing

if you're client isn't willing to share what this is worth for them or what they are willing to spend, id be very open and honest with them in saying something like... for me, it would cost $XX to be excited about this and do a great job; and possibly pad that by 5-10% in anticipation that they'll want to you to reduce your fee

and then say in 3 months, we'll review our KPIs (engagement, reach, connections, deals, etc.) and measure that against how I'm feeling and if its taking me less time, i can either do more or charge less, if its taking me more time, id to readjust... and on the flip side if things are going very well, what we can do to amplify our results

@Brandon some of this might be helpful to your last post 🙂
my short answer is start off w/ a price that gets you excited about the project
