Hey, how do you shape your content writing + strategy offer? I want to package it nicely but the customer wants to know +/- how many hours will I spend on what. I want to do it project-based but haven't found any resources that gives me a rough idea.

I don’t typically tell clients how many hours I’ll spend on what (in part because it depends so much on the scope / what comes up as the project continues). For content writing + strategy together, it might make sense to offer a set of deliverables per month (i.e. x number of blog posts + x social posts) + a set number of hours for strategy work (i.e. 10 hours a month on seo optimizations / strategy / meeting with the content team / etc.)

Do you do writing in a project-based manner and strategy per hour, usually? Or package it into "tiered" plans?

I haven’t offered a strategy + writing package, typically clients I work with want one or the other. I offer writing as project-based and strategy as package tiers (i.e. x, y, and z for $100, xyz and a for $200 and xzya and b for $300) (not real pricing, charge more than that 😂 )

But if the strategy deliverables are going to vary a lot from month to month, it can help to do hourly pricing.

Happy to chat further via DM if you want!

@Tanaaz Khan may be able to help as well as she’s ramping up her strategy offerings 🙂

Thanks, @Noelina Rissman! @Joanna Kaminska, I don't bill by the hour either, so even if it's just strategy or strategy + writing, there's a fixed price. For strategy, there are three tiers like how Rachel offers. If the client wants to add writing to that, I scope out how many pieces they need per month, offer a fixed price and combine that with the final project rate.
