Has anyone been required to have a background check with a company they're doing freelance writing for? Is that standard practice?

Yes. For some companies in more highly regulated industries such as cybersecurity, some will require it in order to move forward to ensure it reduces the third-party partnership risk.

Yes, I have but just by one. I think some do it because they have to to keep their specific cyber certifications up
