I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if you’re a freelance writer and your website is really bad, or incomplete, or non-existent, you’re leaving hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table.
It’s worth updating it, finishing it, or (even just) starting it this week.
❤️

I needed to hear this today. I've been working on my landing page for more than two weeks now, and I'm a bit tired of it 😂 🙌

This 🔥
I don’t have a fancy website, but my portfolio has everything to showcase my experience, expertise, and back up my claim to generate results and feedback from clients.
Most of my clients praised how simple, convincing, and efficient it is

Agreed! There’s no excuse these days either - if you’re trying to improve your personal brand with $0 budget, platforms like Carrd can get you set up with a free, good looking one-page site in (literally) minutes, which is all you need until you have the money to build a fancy website

Thanks for the reminder! I'm working on it this week and the coming few weeks!

I agree to this. Since I got my website up, I've attracted better quality clients. All of them have said "I checked out your website, I love it and decided to reach out". It also saves me the stress of sending samples out because they can see them there on my portfolio page.

I am constantly surprised by how many freelancers don’t even have a website and send a bunch of google docs links as their portfolio.
You can make a free website with Notion or a bazillion other tools!

My website is 2 pages. Doesn’t have to be fancy, but does have to work and please please please no stock photos of hands writing on paper or typing.

@Brendan Hufford but what if those photos are of MY hands writing on paper / typing on a keyboard? 😂

Thanks for this reminder! It's something that I've been working on for some time—hoping to get the updated version out soon!

Siiigh, fine, fine, I’ll work on mine! 😩 🥹 😂

You can for sure build a business without a great website if you have a really good/strong network and are great on calls...but I DO think it helps, and I definitely trust people with a clean simple website more than those without—especially as communicators/marketers...
Friends can I ask folks share links in this thread? I have my site. It needs some love/work and I'm open to feedback --but I'd also love to see inspiration! 😍

@Jillian Wood Here's mine, which needs some updating. Disclaimer: You will see hands writing on paper photos 😂

Mine doesn't have a proper home page displaying my services, which is something I'm working on at the moment, but here's everything I put together so far 🙌

@Katie Mittelstadt looks good! Love the kudos page especially! (stealing idea...)

@Jillian Wood Thanks! I love how you've positioned yourself as not just a great content producer but also great at knowing what companies actually need to do.

@Aleksandra Jovičić wow so creative! I like the article/work layout in particular

Couldn't agree more @Brendan Hufford. Positions you well. And does the sales heavy lifting for you. Clients will already be aware of what you offer, what you've done, and how you get it done pre-call. So you can get down to diagnosing their specific problems.

Exactly. You are providing services to these businesses as well. Squarespace is easy and affordable to build a nice layout easily. Or if you have the money you can easily have someone build it for you.

Such amazing tips!
I'm creating one today🙌
