Hi all! Long time listener, first time freelancer. I’ve been working in B2B content marketing for 10 years and have not dabbled in freelance before. I’ve always worked full-time in-house positions at software companies. I am interested in trying freelance work in addition to my full-time day job — ideally starting small with one project to see how it goes.
I’m looking for your tips on how to find freelance writing/content marketing work? I don’t particularly want to share on my LinkedIn feed that I am looking for freelance work whilst working full-time. Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

LinkedIn is where it’s at! Contact people in your network to let them know what you’re doing, post relevant content to show your expertise, do research on companies you’d like to work for and connect with people who hire freelance writers (like marketing and content managers).

Like @Heather said, your existing network is the best place to start. Of course, if you're afraid of your current employer finding out, or want to avoid appearing "open to work," just start reaching out to people you can trust to keep things quiet. Most people can relate to your situation.

Have you got a portfolio of work? (Doesn't have to be freelance.)
Go share it where you potential customers are.
Don't have your potential customers in your network? Add them!

<< What @Heather said. We maintain a regular schedule of circling back to those who'd contact us before but maybe weren't quite ready. We also go back to former clients, let them know we're available. And, we contact people privately via LinkedIn or email. This always brings in new work.
