Hey all, I was curious if anyone had advice about getting started freelancing and booking some clients?

Start by searching this Slack account for the keywords from your question: “getting started freelancing” and see what other community members have responded to the last few questions of this nature across channels.

If you have specific questions not answered there or by another keyword search across all channels, then I’m sure we’d all be happy to respond to more specifics.

Thank you, I will do that!

That’s a loaded question. I second what Carolyn said, and I don’t say this to discourage you but the competition is fierce these days.

Thank you. And I don’t doubt that. I’m laid off and competition is fierce on the job search as well. Damned if I do, damned if I don’t 😅

Yep. The market is super saturated right now. It does feel like a strange bind to be in. It sort of reminds me of the financial crisis of 2008.

The following year was my first layoff and my first opportunity to practice how much I identified myself with my job.

Since then, as a consultant for many years, I’ve always taken pauses in my work year to reevaluate and give space to how I’m approaching my work and how I’m wrapped up I am in it for either the right or wrong reasons.

I’m taking the market saturation right now as a signal to just turn inward to look at what’s important, what I need, and reimagine what’s possible.
