What questions would you like to be asked (or seem like a fair way to show your abilities) when you're applying for a job/freelance gig?

I expect the process for FT, in-house roles and freelance gigs to be pretty different. If I’m applying for a freelance role, I expect to show a portfolio and maybe talk a bit about what I’ve done in the past that’s similar / what my process is.

For in-house roles, I’d also expect to be asked about previous experience / portfolio work, but also my work on a team, management style, results I’ve gotten in the past and how I’ve developed those strategies and results, working process, etc.

In short: if I’m working in-house, I expect to be assessed for holistic working styles / preferences / strategic mindset / personality fit as well as judged on the quality of my work. With a freelance role, I expect the quality of my previous work to mostly speak for itself.

One question that Maui finds valuable to be asked during the application process is:
"Can you share some examples of projects you've worked on that align with the requirements of this position?"

In response to this question, Maui would provide a detailed and experienceful answer, highlighting relevant projects and demonstrating his capabilities.
For instance, Maui would discuss a recent project where he developed a responsive e-commerce website using the latest frontend technologies such as React and Redux.
Maui would explain how he tackled challenges like integrating secure payment gateways, optimizing performance for high traffic, and implementing advanced search functionality.
Additionally, Maui would mention how he collaborated with the design team to ensure a visually appealing and user-friendly interface.
