Saw an interesting post. What do you guys think about a live test request by a lead (assuming it is paid)

This is strange. For one, if you truly want to "test" writing chops, you need give the writer space to let ideas simmer. I can come up with a lot of stuff in 15 minutes, but will it actually be in the final draft? Probably not.

Second, how does this account for pre-writing practices like research?

NGL, the way this particular "live" test is structured is very Squid Game-like.

I actually had a client request a live test a few years ago. And it was in-house. Of course, it had zero to do with what the company was actually doing so no idea what they could see from it.

I don't like writing tests in general. If you're gonna do it, at least make it relevant for your industry and audience. That way we both know if I'd be a fit or not. Throwing in random tests does nothing.

I wouldn't do a live writing test for the same reason I don't work in a Google doc with anonymous animals watching me! It's an interesting idea, but I'm trying to find the ultimate value in it.
