I’m curious, in what social channels do you, content marketers, hang out these days (you personally, not the brand)? Is Twitter/X still a thing? Is Substack the “new” thing? I realize many of us don’t have much time to linger on social media, but when you do, what’s your destination?
I started out on Twitter but it’s turned into a whole messy alternate reality to me 😂 I’m pretty much exclusively on LinkedIn and Slack communities now
I would hang out on Substack because I think there are some great writers working there, and the app is pretty good, but the feed surfaces content about how great Substack is wayyyy too much. Like, I'm already here, I want to read other writers, like you promised me. I don't want to read about Substack, the app that I've already chosen to load.
LinkedIn and Slack, exclusively
Slack communities mainly. A tiny bit of twitter since my audience (Shopify merchants) are there. Probably LinkedIn in a bit.
LinkedIn solely for work. Instagram for personal.
I focus on the copyediting side of content marketing, and we used to have a really strong community on Twitter. A lot of editors (and journalists) went to Mastodon and Bluesky, which I don’t love. LinkedIn is a must but it’s so grifty that I have a hard time finding new people in related roles to follow.
For life, I love certain subreddits and IG (where my friends are), and I just joined a local community Discord. I also have been getting into Threads, especially since its Bridgerton discourse is starting to feel like peak Twitter

@Samantha Finken Sounds like a lot of places to hang out! I love that there’s a community entirely for Bridgerton, I need to “get out” more .

Aye I blame the news profiles for rolling out all the bad news because it gets the most engagement
@Samantha Finken Oh, I'd love to know the Subreddits you hang out in. I've been thinking a roundabout way of finding the communities where potential clients might be or would you rather be with like-minded writers as yourself
