It’s taxed like rest of salary depending on income bracket, not treated differently to regular pay slip. Most tax efficient shares for employees in UK is called the EMI scheme which is only taxed at a 10% capital gain value. But we found employees don’t really get it, and can only really use it if you can also guarantee a liquidity event which I’m not necessarily working towards.

It’s hard to get personal performance metrics right in a way that’s fair (ie totally in the individuals control) and without side effects (ie they optimise for personal metrics instead of total company EBITDa)

Hi Tim we have this. Depending on seniority everyone gets a % of EBItDA above the hurdle we set for the year, at the end of the year. Only thing that changes is payment based on seniority not individual performance / contribution.

2nd best is a credit facility from your bank but normally requires some diligence. Last resort is the invoice finance providers like Shopify capital, wayflyer, etc

If your products are made in the east the best way is to get your supplier to extend payment terms. In China they have something called sinosure which underwrites the risk for the supplier, so if you don’t pay they can get their money back. With this insurance they can get financing. We have 100 days after shipping now, and we pay 4% of the invoice value for those terms.

This is super tricky. For us step one was be on Awin / set up the right affiliate links. Then depending on the publisher, some is pay to play and some is individual journalist relationships. The relationships one is best if you can build a connection with the right contact

Anyone have a great, value for money Shopify web design agency for a brand refresh? And also what’s your process for product photos / product gifs / feature highlights? Do you recommend 3D model / product renders or real photos and videos? If real photos and videos do you use a place near your manufacture (ie for us, China)?

Hey @here we got last minute help from our supplier to finance a container of products going to the USA and one to Canada. We’re not yet on Shopify plus. We will need to integrate with our 3PLs in both Canada and the Us (and currently UK). Would it be easiest to just set up two new stores, one for each geography, or would it be easier to move to Shopify plus? What do you reccomend?

Hey would love to chat about this also. We have had our P2P marketplace live on and off over the past year. Off because we didn’t have resource to manage it. Our MVP has just been a form where sellers upload images on our website and then we create a product listing on shopify. So works like a normal Shopify product / transaction. Easy / good solsution to test traction but not ideal for managing in the long term

Top tip for anyone in the UK. I just agreed to defer VAT with HMRC , so we can use the cash to buy our extra growth containers. Their interest is only 2% + Central Bank Rate, which is cheaper than our working capital facility. Can only do it once a year but definitely worth it I think
