haha thats spot on. We only sell 1 product there - undershirts. And 95% of our revenue still goes through Shopify 🙂

#ask-the-community - July 20, 2025 at 06:11 PM
is there any other deal type to make than to pay per hour for the marketplace orders? We do that (instead of paying normal picking and packing fees, like we do for DTC)
#ask-the-community - July 20, 2025 at 07:40 AM
this is worrying to me - we also work with MONTA and just set up FBA with Bol+Amazon DE + Amazon UK + Zalando. Do you think we will run into issues with the replenishment @Koen van der List?
#ask-the-community - July 15, 2025 at 03:18 PM
yes, will DM you

I know a guy who buys overstock for TJ Maxwell in UK, they usually are into backs and suitcases also I think 🙂

#linkedin-love - July 14, 2025 at 01:34 PM
wauw I think he did a great job! Can I ask about pricing? Maybe I have something for him

I think it’s a perfect example of everything thats wrong with AI 😅 Unless brand owners are giving testimonials then I just don’t believe this type of stories are the real deal nor scalable (if thousands of people do it, we drown in AI slob).
From what I see there is already a “spite-effect”, where people are so focused on real stories, especially from people they recognize and hence know are real humans.
To me the right strategy for DTC brand owners is hence do go where the arbitrage is, instead of where the crowds are. And that means doubling-down on collabs with well-known influencers and brands, and then combine that with founder-led narratives that show deep authentic relatable content (of course supercharged with AI, but not fully made by AI)
#ask-the-community - July 10, 2025 at 03:03 PM
yeah same for us. Unfortunately bonuses are taxed way higher in NL than regular wage tax. So stock appreciation rights and profit-sharing end up at a crazy 51% flat tax rate 😖
#ask-the-community - July 10, 2025 at 01:00 PM
interesting Fred! What’s the taxation on that in the UK? Our board claims our employees will be charged 51% tax (like om bonuses) from phantom shares and SARs, no matter what. Which I hate.
#ask-the-community - July 09, 2025 at 08:52 AM
I think thats a great ide! Did you hear about this?
I think it could work well for us.
Right now we have SARs, but in my experience Dutchies don’t care enough about this for it to have an impact on salary levels. It’s just a nice lottery ticket for them, on top of the salary.
#ask-the-community - July 04, 2025 at 11:59 AM
Prediko. Not fully happy yet
#linkedin-love - July 03, 2025 at 09:57 AM
yess, I would never recommend anyone to choose fashion as a category 😅
#linkedin-love - July 02, 2025 at 04:39 PM
well, it just doesn’t connect the same way with the users I guess. It will get there! But we are for sure not there yet, despite what all the AI pundits on LinkedIn will have us believe
#linkedin-love - July 02, 2025 at 03:55 PM
yeah in Motion I can see the AI campaigns quickly gets outperformed by other topics of content, and then goes to live a quiet life in the retargeting campaigns
#linkedin-love - July 02, 2025 at 12:35 PM
I shared why we after 4 seasons of going hard on AI photgraphy are deciding to revert back to 90% old school human shoots…
Did any of you loose patience with the constant prompting and hundreds of hours of post production, whenever you do AI photography and video?
#ask-the-community - June 29, 2025 at 05:21 PM
Nice to get his personal perspective. I didn’t follow the scandal, I actually thought they were bad guys. But I changed my perspective.

#ask-the-community - June 27, 2025 at 07:51 AM
cheapest we ever had was
Young founders thats same breed as us, instead of old men in suits that drink milkies for lunch
We currently use MONTA, like many other Dutch founders in this group, they are not the cheapest, but they are fast and good.

but you are definitely also a pretty man!

<@U092V3XA4Q6> I’m not calling you hot, Im calling the space your business operates in hot 😅
#introductions - June 26, 2025 at 03:41 PM
hot space!
#ask-the-community - June 26, 2025 at 12:49 PM
I do not believe i cheap solutions for this - the amount of crazy loyal and profitable customers we got through amazing CS is wild!
#ask-the-community - June 26, 2025 at 12:44 PM
but we cannot have 3 nationalities live at all times
#ask-the-community - June 26, 2025 at 12:44 PM
@George at least 1 for the chat
#ask-the-community - June 26, 2025 at 11:10 AM
the reason why I dont like full-timers is because its a repetitive job. It kills your brain to do it 8 hours a day, 5 days in a row.
Plus we also used to have issues with people quitting CS right when they become good. Student workers and young moms stay for years, maybe on average 3x as long as the average CS worker
#ask-the-community - June 26, 2025 at 11:05 AM
• we got 1 almost full-timer (8-14:30 every day, young mom, amazing stats) and 7 student workers.
• They speak Danish, Dutch, German, and English language (98% of tickets are handled in local language).
• They work from our Copenhagen and Amsterdam offices.
• Live chat open 9-4pm every day.
• They handle on average 14 tickets per hour (approx 6000 Shopify orders per month)
• Stack: Gorgias and
• Biggest productivity booster has not been AI though, but a new return portal, from Postco!

this would be a nice white paper to link to in the next newsletter!
The professor shared it after my LinkedIn post on retail rent, and he dropped some amazing knowledge in my DM over the following days of chatting.
The post that went viral:

I love that setup, but at the same time I know it would bankrupt my business immediately, if we did it like that…
Because when sales windows are short, you cannot scale advertising on it, and hence a big portion of the sales will come from existing customers. Many of those are ok buying at full price. But if your sales events are so close to each other, they rarely have to…
We do 2 big and 2 small sales events, which is probably also not smart, and I think its killing my ability to sell at full price, but I didnt find a better way to do it yet:
• Sell seasonal leftovers via archive sale (10-40% off) in 4-6 week windows in July/Aug and Q5+Jan. None or tiny amounts of advertising (and 1 newsletter).
• BFCM for 10 days with heavy advertising
• Our bday (buy 2 get 3) for 16 days in April (heavy advertising)
I would like to add a new big event in September, where the collection is strong but its too hot to sell winter stuff and too cold to sell summerstuff. Im thinking about doing an annual sweepstakes here, like Ridge and Hexclad. We wanna give away a trip to Copenhagen with private plane, NOMA dinner, and 150m2 suite in the most famous hotel (€25k cost). All you have to do to be able to win is place an order at full price.

the level of energy they have is just nuts 😅 And they dress so poorly

im on the leadership track right now!§
#ask-the-community - June 17, 2025 at 03:46 PM
I guess we gotta rely less on American media like Forbes, and try to build some strong english language European platforms. Because everything is so based on local media due to languages now, so its just gonna be really hard to scale it.
And also I would like people to not be annoyed with my heavy Danish accent 😄 I talk more English than Danish, its literally the only language me and my wife+cofounder share. Yet I always get the feeling Im hard to understand for other non-native speakers. So thats just a hard barrier to breach.

thats very true, for example data that shows the delicious migration from offline buyer to omni-channel or even online-only, after 1 visit in a store 🙂
#ask-the-community - June 16, 2025 at 04:33 PM
because you wanna incentivize people to shop more products
#ask-the-community - June 16, 2025 at 04:33 PM
charging for shipping no matter how high AOV is I cannot believe will ever test well
#ask-the-community - June 16, 2025 at 04:32 PM
yes a lot, constantly with mixed results (via Intelligems). But for us it was clear in the end that moving to €59 to quality for free shipping lifted AOV so much, so that it made up for the tiny dip in conversion rate
