It would be hard to make a successful town square on Whatsapp to make customers talk to each other - it would be impossible to follow as soon as you have more than a dozen interacting 😅 I'm also curious from a GDPR perspective, don't you see the whatsapp number of everyone who is part of your group?

#ask-the-community - June 26, 2025 at 02:46 PM

We use Capital on Tap, not sure if they're EU based too though!

#growth-and-marketing - June 23, 2025 at 04:20 PM

We had turned it on, but our brand is quite niche so we received a lot of enquiries for creators that weren't relevant, so there's a lot of screening that goes through it! We're using it mainly to track and reward the creators we already have relationships with, but it is something I want to expand in the future to use more as a recruiting tool!

#growth-and-marketing - June 23, 2025 at 04:06 PM

We've been using it for around a year now! Pretty straightforward, doesn't have tons of insight but it gets the job done and it's easy to use both on our side and the creator's

#ask-the-community - June 15, 2025 at 02:16 PM

We're using Hiscox!

#supply-chain - June 05, 2025 at 05:25 PM

I feel this too! We're starting to consider having a 3PL based in Europe - adds a little complexity because we need to register VAT in one EU Country, but not the end of the world when I think about the nightmare it is to ship stuff through customs

#ask-the-community - May 29, 2025 at 02:09 PM

actually I take it back - I found the fix! You just have to set up different shipping zones under the correct warehouse

#ask-the-community - May 29, 2025 at 01:33 PM

yes sure! That is something we're actually investigating at the moment so I don't have an answer yet but can revert when we do!

#ask-the-community - May 29, 2025 at 01:29 PM

so it can even be more granular than just market split

#ask-the-community - May 29, 2025 at 01:28 PM

yes you normally can set up rules with your 3PL software so they only import from a certain shipping address

#ask-the-community - May 29, 2025 at 01:26 PM

No same product! This is a screenshot example of one of ours

#ask-the-community - May 29, 2025 at 01:14 PM

You can set up different 3PLs in the same store without being on Shopify plus! That's the setup we have at the moment

#meta-ads - May 27, 2025 at 06:01 PM

Interesting! And is it different freelancers for each platform then?

#meta-ads - May 27, 2025 at 04:22 PM

@Patrick Crowley yeah I thought we were too small to afford it, but tbh agencies are becoming so expensive that it's literally a full time salary, and not even too junior

#growth-and-marketing - May 27, 2025 at 03:28 PM

@Kasper - LABFRESH if you don't mind sharing, how much is a freelance media buyer monthly? Just trying to budget properly and understand what makes the most sense for us

#meta-ads - May 27, 2025 at 03:27 PM

@Kasper - LABFRESH I'm having the same feeling! Initial audit and onboarding was great, but it's not as granular as time goes by. But if you're too small then we don't even stand a chance as we're still in our infancy compared to Labfresh 😅

#ask-the-community - May 27, 2025 at 11:57 AM

The report shows returns when they are processed - so say you sell a product in April and it gets returned in May it will account as a May return. I'm not sure if there's a way to track it linked to when the order was placed!

#ask-the-community - May 27, 2025 at 11:23 AM

We use the sales breakdown in Shopify!

#meta-ads - May 27, 2025 at 11:03 AM

What are everyone's thoughts on in-house vs. agency for meta?
We've tried two different agencies, the current one is doing a good job but I'm still finding we're not as much into the details as I'd like to be. We have an account manager who we deal with on a weekly basis, but we don't really talk directly to the team who is running the ads and making the creatives, we go through them which I find adds an unnecessary level of complexity?
Their fees are also about to increase, and when we take that into consideration it's basically the salary of a full time person, so I'm starting to wonder if we would be better off to hire a more generalist digital marketer who can look after that as well as emails, a bit of support for the website etc

#meta-ads - May 27, 2025 at 10:56 AM

We've been testing different strategies with different agencies in the past couple of months, and I think what has really transpired is that testing is important but if you flood the algorithm with too much without enough spend you won't really learn much. We're currently using Advantage+ rather than CBO, but personally I don't think I'd do more than one ad set per 100€

#growth-and-marketing - May 27, 2025 at 10:48 AM

Following! Really interested in people's take on the matter - we're currently with an agency who is doing a decent job but fees are going up and I'm starting to think whether it might be best to bring it in house

#ask-the-community - May 19, 2025 at 01:31 PM

Yes please @Thijs Roelofs that would be great!!

#ask-the-community - May 19, 2025 at 07:55 AM

Thank you Rachel, we’ll reach out to them too!

#ask-the-community - May 16, 2025 at 01:55 PM

Hi everyone, we had a conversation about 3PLs a few months ago and I remember someone recommended a smaller German one that is very reliable but doesn't have the best website or marketing. Unfortunately I forgot to save it, if you remember at all would you be able to share contacts again? Or if any of you has contacts for EU-based 3PLs that accept low volumes, any recommendation would be helpful. We keep having issues importing into the EU with the IOSS system, so we want to bite the bullet and get a small amount of stock there to be able to push properly in the region.

#ask-the-community - March 26, 2025 at 07:25 PM

We've been using clip so far and it's worked well for us!

#ask-the-community - March 20, 2025 at 09:49 AM

We’ve been using Kata and so far no complaints!

#tech-stack - March 19, 2025 at 03:18 PM

I made an account a couple days ago but haven't had the time to play around with it much yet! Thanks this is super helpful

#growth-and-marketing - March 14, 2025 at 09:31 AM

I would suggest looking into the paid model, we pay like £ 8 a month and it’s super straightforward

#growth-and-marketing - March 14, 2025 at 09:30 AM

Free version has always been very complicated, I remember my old company waited for years and still doesn’t have it. And now that they’re pushing paid I doubt they’re even processing free applications tbh!

#growth-and-marketing - March 13, 2025 at 07:00 PM

Are you talking about the free verification or the paid model? Because paying is super straightforward, you might just need to put your name in the account for a little while

#growth-and-marketing - March 13, 2025 at 12:40 PM

I did use Octane in the paste! They're good but it's more a quiz for product recommendations rather than the post-purchase pop-up

#growth-and-marketing - March 10, 2025 at 05:55 PM

We’re using clip and love it, very good rates

#ask-the-community - February 22, 2025 at 01:08 PM

I put the replacement value, but honestly shipping into the EU has been our biggest nightmare so far 🫠 my advice would be to send with duties pre-paid because there is always a chance customs will stop it otherwise

#growth-and-marketing - February 07, 2025 at 09:49 AM

I haven't heard of this company, but there's a similar one called Mixtape I've been wanting to try. They at least offer a try before you buy model!

#ask-the-community - January 30, 2025 at 04:40 PM

that would be great thanks Patrick! I'm tempted to go for it and try but want to make sure I'm getting a decent deal

#ask-the-community - January 30, 2025 at 02:34 PM

Has anyone done tube advertising in London before? Just looking for a sounding board - we've been approached by a media agency who offered £8k for 100 LEPS (the posters that sit on escalator walls) in zone 1-2. Sounds like a fair price to me but I've never done OOH before, is there anyone who has and could confirm if that's a decent quote?

#supply-chain - January 29, 2025 at 06:12 PM

Following as we’re looking to scale B2B too this year! I’m surprised you got Shipbob to manage your volume, they screwed up so many of our B2B orders that it was one of the main reasons we ran away from them 😅

#introductions - January 27, 2025 at 05:30 PM

Nice to see another curl brand founder 👋 I think I've seen one of your ads on Instagram!

#meta-ads - January 27, 2025 at 05:29 PM

I've talked to a LOT of agencies in the past couple of weeks because we're thinking of outsourcing for the first time to drive scale. Definitely sounds to me like it's too expensive for the amount of creatives you receive, especially when ads are moving so that creative testing is your main targeting tool. Here's a little summary of the ones I spoke to:
• Paradigm Media: 9% of ad spend at your level gets you 40-50 creatives per month (videos included, they don't shoot them but repurpose content you have available)
• Mongoose Social: similar concept, slightly more expensive (quoted me £3k up to 25k in spend) but they also have packages for UGC at $750 (3 videos from one creator). A bit lower volume of assets.
• Prospa: at your level of spend it would be around £8.5k but it includes 32 statics and 16 UGC videos (filmed and edited for you) per month

#executive-strategy - January 27, 2025 at 05:17 PM

Thanks Kasper super helpful!! I'm even more interested in crowdfunding now

#growth-and-marketing - January 25, 2025 at 11:48 AM

Has anyone ever worked with Paradigm Media as an ads agency? We’re thinking of signing up with them as they have accessible fees and a creative-led approach, but curious to hear some feedback.

#executive-strategy - January 25, 2025 at 11:46 AM

Thank you for sharing Kasper! We’re starting to think about how to raise bigger amounts in the next year and this is incredibly helpful. We also have a very strong community even though we’re pretty new in the game, and I love the idea of crowdfunding rather than going the VC route.
One question, I always hear that when crowdfunding you should have at least half the amount already committed by some angel/bigger investors before starting. Was that the case for you in your first campaigns, or was it all through the community?

#executive-strategy - December 11, 2024 at 04:00 PM

Thank you, super valuable!

#meta-ads - November 28, 2024 at 11:20 AM

Thanks so much, appreciate the insight!!

#meta-ads - November 27, 2024 at 06:17 PM

Following as well as I have the same question! @Tom Reid how do you split the budget in % between testing and scaling campaign?

#ask-the-community - November 22, 2024 at 01:21 PM

Love your approach Kasper! I hate the usual buy buy buy approach - last year as a consumer I felt Black Friday was so stressful, with new daily deals that made you feel like you never knew if you should take advantage or wait an extra day for something better to come along.

As a beauty brand we don't really have old stock (also, we've just launched in May so still growing our customer base) so we decided to go for a flat 30% off sitewide. We shared exclusive access with our newsletter subscribers and social media community early in the month, and are now opening to other consumers + starting to run ads on the promo. But always staying away from unnecessary urgency messaging, and letting customers know they have time until Cyber Monday to make considerate purchase decisions

#ask-the-community - November 13, 2024 at 10:40 PM

Yes it’s pretty similar! As I said tracking is pretty limited as aside from sales data it doesn’t really show traffic or clicks much, but for the basic functionality it’s working great for us 👌

#ask-the-community - November 13, 2024 at 04:16 PM

You can also open your brand up to collaboration requests if you want to get more reach, you get a lot of random ones so you have to scan through but depends what your goals are

#ask-the-community - November 13, 2024 at 04:16 PM

Shopify collabs is very basic in terms of tracking but it’s free, and once you onboard people you don’t have to worry about invoices and payments as it’s all done automatically

#ask-the-community - November 13, 2024 at 04:15 PM

We do it in house using shopify collabs! We also find it much better to work with them directly rather than with third parties, and you also get more control over who you work with
