Anyone here has experience running pre-orders? We're gonna be sold-out throughout January (initially only for 10 days but all our containers have endured severe delay so no stock before feb 1st). Our product is relatively high ticket (250eu). Would giving a shit ton of accessoires work better than providing a financial discount? If anyone has experience with running meta ads specifically for pre-orders pls hit me up.

we’ve done it a lot, it works ok with existing customers, but unless we use Kickstarter its very hard for new customer acquisition. We have €150 AOV and give 20-30% discount on preorders with delivery times of 6-16 weeks

Communication with your customer is also key. You can end up with a lot of customer service inquiries if you fail here.

We sell about 40% of our orders on pre order. Always, no discount or extra gifts because of the preorder. Its a nightmare to manage but same issue as you re container delays

We also have done it quite a bit. Giving 20% discount was often enough for 40-50% of the (usual) customers to convert, but also depends a lot on the actual delivery time, as long as you're transparant about it.

Thanks for the insights all! 🙂

We launched a new product around the same price point (£200) with pre-orders in Oct. We offered a 20% discount + gift with purchase (accessory). Over communicating was key + always build in a buffer for delivery. We ended up delivering early, which was seen by customers a win!

In hindsight, I wish we'd communicated more prior to opening up the pre-orders. We'd built up a waitlist and could have done more to nurture them with updates to help build hype for the release itself.
