@Paolo C. we have a internal team. CS, Video editors, strategist etc. We barely outsource anything except for the shooting (which is also guided by our creative strategist). This brand started late last year and we do a low multi 7-figure a year in sales and are now experiencing good growth so we're looking for good benchmarks to follow.

Just to be clear, we don't sell in the US so we're talking about Lazada/Shopee. They give shoppers a lot of benefits (literally free money) so it feels very competitive despite them buying from our store.

Good idea @Thijs Roelofs what we have done so far:
• Register for Warranty (have them give our email, and then we offer a discount to buy from the website)
• Add us on Line/Email so they're in another list.
• Free gifts - We offer free gifts on our website to boost $AOV + incentive to shop on our website
Meta told us we're doing much better than other sellers. We're doing 50-60% on our website, rest on Shopee/Lazada but it's very costly. We're expanding internationally to non-Shopee/Lazada dominant countries to battle this

What are some really good ways to combat your customers buying from Amazon instead of your own website? We have a local Amazon-equivalent here and we lose a significant amount of money and it's costing us $xxx,xxx a year in fees, discounts etc. Customers still buy from us but on the Amazon-equivalent platform which actually most of the ecommerce shopping happens in the country.

Go brandbycket & similar sites. Combine two words from two domains and voila. Use .io and .co. You can also add “Try” and “Get” infront of the brand name for a .com domain

For serious international expansions (having stock in those countries etc)... heard many times one Shopify store isn't the best for multi-country/currency. Many brands including HexClad create individual stores for each country they expand to.

We're Woocommerce based, but still going to create a new shop for a new country in a few months rather than keep it in 1 store.

If you're just planning to ship from your country internationally, then it's a different story

Thanks @Emil Aghakian & @Valeriya K ! 50% of our sales come for a local Amazon-equivalent (although we advertise via FB, customers tend to buy on Lazada/Shopee) and yeah the reviews often contain the box/packaging, so I think it’ll be worth it. If anything we can text and see 👌 we’re going to do branded packaging for all orders and decide if it’s worth it to continue for only 1 pillow. Costs about $1.2-$1.5 extra estimated in total

Anyone here expand onto another market (non-English) where you had to get local staff (video editor, support etc)? Wondering when would you say is the right time to expand?

Seems like after the initial setup (company, hiring 2-4 staff members, translating all LPs, obtaining assets) that 70-80% of the work is copy/paste of what's working in the current market but localizing it.

Not really a solution, but check if the hold is temporary or permanent. Sometimes it can happen that they only hold it for 30 days which in that case shouldn't really be a big problem

We can't seem to make our skincare product to sell at all. What are we doing wrong?
We're not new to D2C, we have 2 other successful brands in other niches (1 very successful) so we have lots of experience. However, we're new to skincare. I feel like we're missing something obvious with skincare that we can't see?

We have tested:
• 10+ Unique Video Ads (40+ variations) + 10-15 image ads, different ad styles
• 3 Unique Landing Pages (clarna.co is the 2nd one, has a styling issue atm)
• 2 Listicles (www.clarna.co/10-reasons) - testing atm
• 3 types of above-the-fold, different offers (free gifts, discounts), multiple hero images, angles, headlines (detox, acne, pores), less text-heavy slider images and so on.
• Different buy-boxes, CTA, colors, shorter/longer versions of the LP.
• Making it less salesy and more value-focused
• Higher & lower price points (it's at $19 atm)

Well, why is your product $40 instead of $10? I think that your answer would nswer that, which you can expand on.

Do you have a USP (Unique Selling Point) that makes it special? Can be the material, additional benefit or so forth.

You can focus on increased the perceived value of your product through your copy/LP/messaging. Plus, you could further separate yourself by adding free gifts with it (not cheap gifts, something that makes sense)

Thanks a lot for the detailed breakdown, much appreciated. Seems some of issues was due to lazyloading/js compression, which now should be resolved.

Furthermore, based on your comment about the before/after, I made a before/after as a first review on the slider.

Will also be reducing the ingredient icons to 2 rows since the detailed info is later on the website.
