What's the thoughts/vibes with Black Crow these days?

My no-longer-private hot take is that if you want to pay a premium for a customer data platform that has “bells and whistles” on top of it, by all means do so.

Do not misinterpret this as throwing shade. Shopify brands have said to me it works and they also have solid market share to make any decision maker feel comfortable going with them (which is no easy feat!) but playing devil’s advocate, a few vendors can execute on the primary offer.

If you would like a private hot take based on what your brand is, my DMs are open.

Disclosures:
1. I am involved in what is perceived in the market as the “3P” space, not the “1P” space which includes the vendor you mentioned.
2. I can send you non-affiliate links so you can go in the best direction without you wondering if I have monetary skin in the game specifically as it relates to responding to this topic.

i consider anything that sits under shopify’s data layer as vertically integrated - and if your use cases are pretty standard, i’d say go for it esp if they can do CAPI work flawlessly

but if you want to enrich app/web/IOT - there are others like segment and tealium who are pretty robust in what they do

@Rose Mayo I didn’t like that black crow worked kinda like a black box. They’re not cheap and it just wasn’t clear to me if they were working at all / how much of our revenue can be attributed to their tracking capabilities. I’ve been recommending Aimerce to folks — I’ve all around found it to be a better product experience. It’s cheaper, and it tells you exactly how much of your revenue increase via Klaviyo/Meta/Google ads is attributed to their tracking. I think they are also built differently, which lends itself to the guarantee in revenue boost
