It's a legal requirement to have "made in China" on any goods that are made in China going into the US

FWIW, I just listened to a pretty good podcast episode that broke down the requirements and the oddities. It is helping me figure out where I may be able to claim "made in XXX", without facing the expense of hiring a trade law lawyer:
