š Can someone explain how companies get reviews articles like these from , Forbes Health, InnerBody etc? Iām confused with the business model there and how DTC companies land these: is it typically via a PR agency / pitching the journalist directly? Do these companies purchase the placement, or is it financed via affiliate marketing only?
all three of the above are often in play at any given time, sometimes within the same article-- this is probably the best piece on state of commerce media in 2024....
Depends on the publisher. For someone like Wirecutter, content commerce decisions are almost entirely editorial driven (PR wins here). With that said, more publishers are testing out sponsored coverage (I.e paid placements, affiliate, etc.) as they look to improve monetization of their traffic.
