Looking for thoughts from those who have effectively scaled their marketing operations: How hands-on do you get with your creative? At what size did you begin outsourcing creative production? Either via UGC creators, professional photographers / videographers, marketing agencies, etc…
I’m getting to a point where I feel like I’m hitting a ceiling on the photos I can take for static ads and how quickly I can film and edit video ads. I think I can push it further, but don’t want to hold the business back if creative becomes a bottleneck.

I would aim to spend 5% of your Facebook ad spend on creative (it’s a wide range depend on the brand but anywhere from 2-15%) to minimize your TOTAL CPA. If you are at a low higher % is also likely to be most optimal.
Once you calculate that, think about your own time as a cost vs others and try to spend that budget as effectively as possible across all of that.
Also check out Billo! Great for cheap UGC
Happy to dig deeper if you want to provide some details around total spend and specific questions you have.

Love it, thank you. Really helpful to have a rule of thumb to think about as % of ad budget.
In terms of agency vs UGC vs videography / photographer… What do you think would be a good starting point for most brands?

Made a typo "If you are at a lower total spend, a higher % on creative is likely optimal" is what I meant to say.
I would say start with some statics and UGC from freelancers to see what works before committing to anything long term.
Go to this guy for statics (Cheap but pretty solid) and have him knock off your biggest competitors ads (not the brand focused ones, the ones that have sales, and selling points and CTAs)
And go to billo for UGC and try 5-6 creators that feel super authentic in their example videos. Ask them to come up with selling points based on your site and product to see what engages the most and then build on that with the next round.

And if you find a creative agency you love let me know, would love a reliable one for the brands we manage

Worked with this guy for a while and he was decent but edged out by Billo

Really awesome, thank you. I’ll let you know how it goes

@Curtis Howland Forgive the intrusion, but if you're looking for a creative agency, I'd love to chat.

@Rob Golterman Chiming in a bit late here, but I'd say from your post, you're ready to outsource! When it feels like you're spending more time on creative/marketing/insert project here than doing what you know you need to in order to build the business, then you're ready to find an outside partner.
I've done this with a few companies, doing all the design work/photos/etc until I couldn't keep my head above water and work on the strategic stuff that I needed to do. Then I brought in an agency or contractor (depending on the business size), and it freed me up so much! It of course takes time to onboard and manage, but not nearly as much as it does to do it yourself.
