Hi all! We just had a new ad in our ASC take off on spend on the 1st day.

Generally, this is good when it earns spend over other winners.

But it weirdly is performing terrible (still 1st day though). as of almost 9am PST, $225 CPA, when target is $65, which is what we've been averaging recently.

Other winners getting very little spend now so far. Weird.

Do I keep this ad on for full 7 day window?

Or cut my losses now?

I've never had an ad "earn" spend in our ASC and perform worse than the status quo.

Usually when it earns spend it's because it starts performing right out the gate.

When you say target — do you have a cost control at $65 as a target or that $65 is just your target.

Natalie Bowman March 27, 2025 at 03:49 PM

thats just our target. we dont do cost controls

Fergal Dinan March 27, 2025 at 04:08 PM

I'd first look at why you think it could be taking spend and if there could be a 'false' reasoning. I've had an ad take off before because the video was so catchy — high hook and hold rate but for the wrong reasons. I believe the early signals were made to think the ad would perform well because the engagement was higher than our baseline. But it was the wrong audience and reason people were engaging

Natalie Bowman March 27, 2025 at 04:12 PM

right. ya this is a pretty basic static ad lol. nothing clickbaity

Fergal Dinan March 27, 2025 at 04:16 PM

if worried, launch it in it;s own campaign or ad set. Otherwise I'd say let it run — not sure on budget so hard to know the impact it could have

Fergal Dinan March 27, 2025 at 04:17 PM

but if you had a stable ASC and this is disrupting it, I wouldn't say that's great.

How is the actual business vs FB data?

Sebastian Valiente March 27, 2025 at 04:48 PM

It happens - the machine isnt 100% right. If blended cpa of campaign doesnt improve or your blended business metrics are out of whack, kill it

Natalie Bowman March 27, 2025 at 04:51 PM

@Sebastian Valiente how long do u let it run until u kill it? if not hitting blended metrics

Sebastian Valiente March 27, 2025 at 04:51 PM

If its messing up my blended cac or something, almost immediately. If my blended biz metrics are okay, but my blended inplatform-CPA on the campaign is bad, I might let it run for a day or 2 to see what happens

Natalie Bowman March 27, 2025 at 04:52 PM

i mean, its 10am now here PST, its at $287 CPA, the rest of the ads getting spend are doing normal lol

Natalie Bowman March 27, 2025 at 04:52 PM

so yes, messing with blended

Sebastian Valiente March 27, 2025 at 04:53 PM

just to clarify, when I say blended cac I mean All Spend / New Customers

Sebastian Valiente March 27, 2025 at 04:53 PM

if thats getting messed with, then Id personally kill immediately

Natalie Bowman March 27, 2025 at 04:55 PM

ya, blended is trash this morning and ads that were hitting targets are now getting almost zero spend

Sebastian Valiente March 27, 2025 at 04:55 PM

ya im not taking any risks then

Sebastian Valiente March 27, 2025 at 04:56 PM

it happens

Natalie Bowman March 27, 2025 at 04:57 PM

eek! weird, that's never happened before!

99.9% of the time when it "earns" spend in our ASC, it's because it outperforms older winners
