💸❌ Failed payments in Stripe: does anyone have tips for how to reduce the number of payments that fail due to "the issuing bank declined it" and other error codes? This is for a new brand, but I've only gotten a single chargeback (which I won after disputing) after $40k in payments processed through Stripe.
Depends on the codes bro, but you have to obsess over it, we have 94% acceptance rates now, I know guys losing millions cause they never digged deep into it
Thanks for the reply. I've changed some of the fraud rules to prevent payments with incorrect billing zip codes from failing, for example. I'm guessing the "issuing bank declined it" error will happen less frequently as the brand matures and its reputation stays in good standing. What other common error codes have you seen that can be prevented?
i don’t know the codes
but basically, what you need to do is look at every single declined transaction
other then
- Insufficient Funds
- Do No Honor
& keep hammering your payments rep until they dont occur anymore
“Hey, why is this happening? We need to stop this form happening?!”
And jusst keep hammering until it’s all gon
we are with CKO
and they had to get some of their HK team involved to request some crazy exemption for our account
in the end it ended up making us an extra 5% in revenue
Yes the business is based in the US and only currently sells to US customers.
@Nate D Did you manage to solve this?
@E Haven't reach out to my rep yet. Still trying to find a pattern, but the rate of failed payments is still pretty low. Ideally would want it to be lower, though!
someone asked on Farcaster and how they solved it.
