Hey All, does anyone have any tips on how to best navigate selling out of product when you have subscribers that are expecting it? Communicate it, pause, give a future discount, hope they understand and retain?

I sell a focus supplement at trygraymatter.com that is part of our customers daily routine. A post of mine went viral and we unexpectedly sold out. At most it’s going to take 8 weeks 😓 to restock. Im doing everything i can to reduce that.

There’s also a method I’ve read about called “reserve inventory”; meaning, customers that are locked into their subscription don’t get affected if there’s a stock issue - their orders, be it 3, 6, or 9 months, their order is saved, and cannot be touched. (Don’t know if there’s an app for this, but it would be a killer idea for brands that sell out often imo)

You’re on the right path with giving a future discount. Doesn’t seem that there’s much that can be done, since manufacturing is out of your hands.

Nonetheless, keeping extra inventory on reserve is probably a good idea. Plan for it accordingly.

Amazon MCF is a good way of holding onto extra stock, by the way. It’s basically a profitable 3pl.

Well done. Can I ask what the post was?
