Do you offer discount codes for your customer affiliates?
We've had a number of customers ask if we have an affiliate program, and until now we haven't (I know I know, we are 5 years late 😅).
I'm considering allowing our affiliates to earn 15% commissions, and offer 10% discount to people they refer.
But I'm wondering whether offering 10% discount can be damaging for the brand because our customers would then be unhappy with ever paying full price.
Is it normal to offer a discount code to customers who want to be affiliates?
(for context, we are mainly in the supplements space)

@Chris, listen to Season 4 Episode 1 of the podcast. 🫡

It goes specifically into this

@Chris are you selling online, in-store, or both?

@Richard Tanksley selling online only

Thanks for the link @Shin Takeda, will check it out shortly!

@Chris you could do a UTM link - less sales but you don’t damage brand with discounts

Let me know what your brand is and I’m happy to send over some example setups via the dm

Also - if you want to avoid discounts, but still offer an exciting referral experience you can pursue experiential concepts like co-branded landing pages.

@Kenyon Brown that's a great suggestion, perhaps when we find an influencer that can drive volume

@Zohaib Rattu at this stage we're okay with discounts because we're more interested in driving volumes of purchases more than higher margins per purchase.
But great suggestion too!

@Chris ahhh I guess I read your message incorrectly. It looked like you didn’t want to do discounts.
I head growth at Social snowball, an affiliate tracking app for Shopify. If you’d like I can go over some different affiliate templates people in the supplement space are using.
In the meantime here’s a template of a program that one of our more successful brands are doing:

@Zohaib Rattu we were going to use UpPromote because we already have a membership there.
But curious, what are the main reasons for using Social Snowball instead of UpPromote?

• Frictionless customer into affiliate signup via confirmation page (refer a friend)
• Deeper Klaviyo integration with all promotional and transactional triggers and all data points that are on our platform readily available for campaign and automation segmentation/manipulation
• Zapier integration as well for more custom setups
• product seed at scale to creators and influencers with our “claim your gift” feature that occurs during our super simple sign up flow
• We have over 710+ payment options via our integration with tremendous. You can only use PayPal on uppromote

@Zohaib Rattu we also use UpPromote but find it to be manual and exhausting. WHat is the price for social snowball and is there someone who can handle the set up of everything on SS?

Hey Courtney -
Our onboarding team helps you get ramped up in the first 30 days. We have 2 plans
Snow Day (Growth Plan) is $99 + 3% affiliate commissions/mo, or our Blizzard Plan (Enterprise), which starts at $499/mo (no commissions, just flat). We have a 30 day free trial, and I'm happy to help strategize and help crush sales for my friends at Limited Supply.
